Book Covers
What are your...

What are your favorite book covers? If it's an ancient copy of the book, say what edition it is. The one that prompted me to post this was the cover of The Son of Neptune. Cool or what? The ice...the bird...the guy (I'm guessing that's Percy, although I haven't read the book yet.) Call me weird but I think it's cool. I know I have more favorites, but I've got to look in my library before I can say...

I like The Mark of Athena's cover, and all the covers for the Stravaganza trilogy.

I loved, loved, loved Ted Nasmith's Silmarillion cover.  I also thought all three Hunger Games covers were pretty cool.  I have a boxed set of The Lord of the Rings (yeah) and even though it's not technically a cover, I've always loved the way it looked.  Bright gold background with the heraldry Tolkien drew for his characters on it.

The cover of Inkspell is okay, but I really like how the spine looks.

You know, I have fifty different books that would fit under this thread, but I can't remember any of them!

I really like the cover of the April 2012 Cricket magazine- it's hanging up on my wall.

The cover of The Future of Us is pretty cool.  I like how it's made up of binary code.

Okay, I thought of two... The Supernaturally series has really pretty covers.  Also, the series Hilary Duff writes has good covers.

Well, first of all, there's Theodosia Throckmorton and the Last Pharoah by R. L. LaFevers. The binding cover that doesn't come off is a map of the part of Edwardian England where the main character lives, and the dust jacket has a picture of the her and some other things. I also love the cover of the German edition of Theodosia Throckmorton and the Serpents of Chaos. I've never seen those books mentioned here, but I recommend them. They're really excellent books about Egyptian magic that take place in England in the late 1800s-early 1900s. The main character is awesome, very quirky and logical. The writing is amusing, and the plot is exciting. It's just an overall excellent series.

I also love the cover of Chalice by Robin McKinley. It's just beautiful.

The spine of Zarah the Windseeker is also very nice.

I really like the German cover of THG (I don't know if it's the same one in the English version). I also like the covers of the Twilight books (even though they really don't have much to do with the books). They're sort of cool in a simple way. (No, I'm not a Twilight fan.)

What's THG? Is it something I mentioned, or did you just think of it because I mentioned a German cover?

I think THG would be used as an abbreviation for The Hunger Games.

@ Elizabeth M:

I like the covers of New Moon and Eclipse. The other two creep me out in a way.

THe Inkheart cover, paperback edition. You know, the one where it's on fire and the words are showing through. Also yeah, the Hunger Games covers are pretty cool.

The Hunger Games book covers are okay, but there's not enough on them for me.  I like a picture on the cover.  On the Hunger Games book covers, there are just small symbols.

The cover of Mockingjay is okay, but I don't like the first two.

Rick Riordan came to talk in a Fox Theater near us about his next book, in May or something. My mom asked me if I wanted to go, and I was like: "YESYESYES :D"

We went. He read us the first chapter of the Mark of Athena. Aloud. Before ANYONE ELSE got to see it.

The girls screaming damaged my eardrums. Permanently. (He's like a rock star or something.)

Plus I got a signed copy of The Serpent's Shadow. :D

THE POINT BEING, that he showed us the German cover of The Lightning Thief. His editors had warned him beforehand that the Germans were very serious and appreciated dark, somber covers.

The cover showed Percy riding the Minotaur, who was only wearing his underpants.

Good job, German cover editors. I'm sure your readers had a good laugh at that.
