Thief Lord

by Cornelia Funke

Thief Lord is an amazing book about runawy children living in an abandoned movie theater in Venice, Italy. One, Scipio, who calls himself the Thief Lord has a terrible secret. A detective, Victor Getz, is looking for Prosper and Bo, who have run away from their rich, but very mean Aunt Esther, and is now, thanks to Hornet (another one of the runaways) living in the movie theater with the others. The kids are asked to steal something for the mysterious Conte, and from there things get really interesting!!

It was okay.  This is one of the few books where the movie is better than the book.  I thought Prosper was pretty shallow.  You know...  No personality.

I liked this book, but I have to agree with some people that it was kind of boring, and the characters were a little 2-dimensional. I love anything that is by Cornelia Funke, but I have to say that this is not her best work. To anyone who doubts her, I 100% suggest the Inkheart trilogy (Inkdeath is the best) and Dragon Rider. Love this book. I mean, anyone who can think up a story like this (where the one character lives in two worlds, add a bit of magic to a realistic story, stuff like that) is talented. I also love Dragon Rider!!! The movie Inkheart is pretty good, but I didn't read the book.....

I absolutely LOVED this book!!!! I liked the way that Cornelia Funke described Venice, and ever since I read that book, I've been dying to go there! It had such a twist to it, I didn't see it coming. This was a great book.

This is one of the best books, EVER! I actually read it when i was staying in venice. It was really fun to read about the maze of alleys, and then get lost in them later that day. The movie was great as well.
