CB Updates -- We Need Your Help!
Hey Chatterbox, it’s the admins. After the CB went down earlier this year, we’ve been working with the Webmaster to get the CB a shiny new upgrade. We’re in the early stages of info gathering right now, and we need your help!
Please share in the comments anything that you hope for in a new version of the CB. You can suggest brand-new features, but also include anything you really would like to stay the same. We want to consider all possibilities (even if we can't use all of your wonderful ideas) to create the best possible place for you! Comment by May 31st any new (or old!) things you might like in a fresh CB.

Hmm, Okay lets see... I think it would be nice to have a pronouns box, and maybe like Sine said one time a topping button? I’ll post more ideas later :)

I'm not sure if this is something you would be interested in adding, or if it goes against the guidelines, but maybe it would be nice to have some kind of 'profile' feature? This could also prevent people impersonating others, which I know doesn't happen a lot, but just putting the idea out there!
I agree with WildWolf on the pronouns box/topping button also!

also i know other people also were interested in adding profiles, but i wanted to elaborate on this a bit more!
so my ideas on this would be maybe adding a bio on profiles and maybe you could specifically post your writing/art/photography on your profile, so that people could go to your profile and see all your work in one place.
and i had one more idea! maybe we could have a direct message feature? admins would still approve the messages before sending, but sometimes (like with the make a friend thread) we have chat threads and its not that we're saying anything that other people can't see, but it just makes that a little more private i guess?

Yes, a (monitored) dm system would be so cool! That way private convos could be really private, which is useful for several reasons, the first one off the top of my head being planning a ski lodge/story together and writing it together without anyone else being able to see the story/spoilers.

Maybe an update on the sections? Chirp at Cricket and This Month's origianal uses don't exactly apply anymore. A fandoms section would be cool as well!

Maybe more dyslexic-accessible CAPTCHAS? I think one CBer mentioned something about that; there are plenty of CAPTCHAs like those. Or even better, multiple verification options!
Also, the topping button;
Maybe accounts? They don't ask for the email or anything, you just set up a CB name and Password. You can change the CB name at any time, and there can still be the name box in case of SIs. This way, people who don't want to be impersonated can create the account so that it's impossible to directly impersonate them in the Name box.

Joe cool says xwxwc. This is the first time he's repeated a two-letter string of letters.
We aren't sure yet, we're still working on figuring out exactly what changes need to be made. - Admin

Ooh, maybe a bar to get quick links to other CB posts (CB posts) so that you don't have to copy and paste the link and get the Admins to link it for you.
And maybe a search bar to more easily find posts from long ago?

I think a search bar would be a good idea. If you wanna search for a specific thread or a person who made some threads, it would make it a lot easier!

please don't change the appearance that much!!!! i really like the colors of the CB especially. And the old feel in general. Maybe a simpler font like Arial though; I personally find the current font a bit hard to read especially when my eyes are tired. And maybe have the thread titles be the same font, though strangely i can read that one *shrugs* maybe you could even have different font options (like maybe a dyslexia font option as well, just PLEASE don't make that them main one since I pretty much literally cannot read that at all). and maybe a set amount of characters to show up for the thread titles/fixing the ... glitch? Also a click box or something other than the current CAPTCHA as a second option would be great (I might have been the CBer who mentioned the CAPTCHAS, though I don't have dyslexia just vision issues). maybe you could make the location and age boxes a bit longer? definitely search bar and quick links. Pronouns box would be great. I think video posting would be great but idk about gifs; maybe they could be more like videos with the option to make them play or not? A lot of GIFs can be very bright and flashy and such. Oh, and maybe instead of mouse-overs for pictures there could be an option for captions on the bottom? i don't have more specific details here but easier art uploading would be great. I have a lot of glitches with that and usually only Jpgs work which is annoying even though i have jpg as default usually. I couldn't figure out how to make a post at first so maybe rephrasing or somehow changing the "click here to talk about ___" buttons.
Priorities would be keeping things the same aesthetically, font, different types of captcha-type things, and being able to start and stop GIFs for me, maybe also art uploading because that glitches a lot. Oh, and now that I think about it, keeping the background color behind the text more of a cream color makes it a lot easier for me to read for some reason so preferably not changing that would be nice. sorry this is a lot

Okay i'm sorry i've posted way too much today (I'm sick and can't practice viola and that means there's at least 1-3 more hours in the day for other stuff) but the things i mentioned as priorities are pretty important for me to be able to use this place... except for the captcha thing, but that would be nice for others i'm sure. i don't want to seem demanding but there's a lot of fonts i literally can't read so at the very least please keep this font. Arial or something very simple would be very nice though.
i think profiles and passwords should be optional. and making it so you can see the picture you're uploading. I think This Month is fine because of MCUs. Chat thread section would be AMAZING. I'm fond of the art of the bugs. oh and preferably keep the sides red and simple like they are now!
I also want to second the Kyngdom glitch, the Main Street/permanent threads idea is a really good idea (we could at least like pin the ultimate guide), organizing threads by date etc, being able to edit/delete posts by yourself (please please please), updates w/ Kyngdom, titles for thread names, and the things I already mentioned!! but if you're going to allow GIFs pleaseee make it so that maybe they're blurred and you have to click on them to start them. oh, and definitely don't get rid of the age and location boxes! but making them slightly longer would be nice (even just a letter or two). also if you could say when you're going to update like a week in advance so we know when to expect it?

What Parody said about more safety features is good, but maybe profiles! So new CBers could make an account and direct people to their profile, which would say a bit about them selves. Also, this may help with the whole "Thread dissapearing when someone first comments on it", the profiles could have the threads that CBer posted. So if you knew who posted a thread, you could go to their profile and find it!!
