New Story Contest: PEARLS OF WISDOM

Wisdom Snack

As a budding chef, I wanted to share my Wisdom Snack recipe for Cricket, Ladybug, and fans as we embark on new beginnings.

To start, place a large rainbow colored bowl on the counter and turn on your favorite tunes. The first ingredient you need is one cup of compliments to others. It always makes someone feel good when you mention you enjoyed their insights from class or you appreciated them making room for you at the lunch table.

Next, add one-half cup of adventure. Push yourself to embrace different activities or opportunities. If you are an athlete, venture into glee club. If you are an actor, give the debate team a chance.

Third, sprinkle a few dashes of rewards into your bowl. If you worked hard and felt accomplished after your latest science or history assignment, then treat yourself to a nice afterschool walk with a friend or invite them over for dinner.

Pump up the volume of the music and dance for five minutes. Make sure to smile while you shimmy.

Now, place three heaping cups of volunteering into the mix. Whether you offer to walk your neighbor’s dog or participate in a beach cleanup effort, you will find the experience enriching and fun.

If you look into your bowl and it seems to be overflowing, do not worry about failure, since you are always growing as a person, student, and friend. 

Finally, add two tablespoons of reading. It is a good idea to keep a running list of book titles that your friends or family members recommend. Always have a book on your bedside table that is easily accessible for a quick bedtime read.

Stir and share with others . . . while dancing.
