Finding Words

She had always been a quiet child. She always looked at things, never commenting on her observations. She would think about it, but never thought that what she was thinking about was worth speaking for. She did have many great thoughts, although she never thought so. She only answered questions. Her mother always worried for her, as did all her elders. She loved reading, for it is something she could enjoy without talking about it.

On a lonely Sunday afternoon, an unlikely change occurred. She never thought it would happen, nor did anyone else. She was walking along the shoreline, for she lived in a quaint little home on the beach. She thought it was lovely, though, of course, no one knew. She listened to the  waves, crashing up against the surf, like throwing a rock onto a wall. She thought about the ocean, the sand, her home, the book she read last night.

Suddenly, she felt something small crawling across her foot. She let out a short gasp of surprise, before she really looked at it. It was a hermit crab, but none like she had seen before. Its shell was shiny, like a freshly polished medallion, gleaming in the sunlight. It was simply beautiful.

It deserved so many more words, but the perfect description was “beautiful.”

Then, a few words popped from her mouth. “You,” she clearly stated, “are beautiful.”

She kept talking. “You were on a mission. You completed that mission, and now you are complete. You found your shell.”

She lifted the tiny creature, ran to the water, and placed it down.

A few moments later, she burst into the house, calling, “Everyone! Guess what I just saw!”

To find your words, there is nothing you must do. You must just wait, and they will come at the right time and place.
