Hidden Voice

Like a star blotted by black night
It hides.
Like a fish lying silent beneath the surface
It hides.
Like a thin crescent moon blocked by clouds
Like the ringing of a bell made silent
It hides.
But not for long.
Like a robin chick hatching from a blue egg
It glides.
Like a whale leaping from the waves of the ocean
It flies.
Like fiery lava exploding from the mouth of a volcano
Like the sun peeking over the horizon
It leaps out
Like a dancer from behind the big red curtain.
It is rising to meet the world—
My voice will be hidden no longer.
