Thanksgiving Morning

Oh, Thanksgiving morning
is never boring,
with the warm turkey smells
and the packed-full shelves.
Mom bustles around,
her feet barely touch the ground.
On, the sweet pumpkin pie
upon which I spy
until the guests arrive.
There’s Uncle Clive!
Grandma and Grandpa and old Uncle Bob,
now our house contains a mob!
Willy, Bobby, Jane, and Jake,
now with footsteps our house does shake.
Only one person does now delay.
Where oh where is sweet Auntie Shay?
The oven goes “Ding.”
We all start to sing.
In bursts Aunt Shay.
“I’m sorry,” she does say.
We all say the prayer
and then we all share
This marvelous turkey dinner.
