Cricket Country: Off to Space!

It was a lovely evening in Cricket Country, and Ladybug was itching to do something. She stared at the night sky, along with the other bugs, filled with billions of stars, and suddenly had an idea.

“Aha!” she exclaimed. “Let’s go into space!”

“What for?” Cricket asked. “It’s perfectly fine in Cricket Country.”

“But it’ll be so cool,” Tater agreed. “Just think about what we’ll discover! I’ll be the first potato bug in space!”

“Mewy famous!” Pussywillow exclaimed.

“I’ll be famous,too! For having the best chocolate chip cookies in space!” Ladybug declared.

“But how will we get up there?” Marty asked.

“We could build our own spacecraft!” George suggested.

“Brilliant! Let me just go grab some . . .” Ladybug trailed off, running to gather materials.

“Are you sure it’s even going to work?” Cricket asked dubiously as Ladybug returned with an armful of all sorts of scraps of materials.

“A hundred percent,” Ladybug reassured him confidently as she began to build the spacecraft.

After about an hour, it seemed that Ladybug was finished! However, the result was a little disappointing. It looked quite jumbled together and messy.

“That looks . . . unique,” Pudding offered.

“It’s completely fine,” Ladybug said. “Everybuggy hop aboard!”

Reluctantly, the bugs boarded the “spacecraft.” They sat in awkward silence.

“How are we gonna get this to work?” Sluggo asked.

Just then, they spotted Ugly Bird flying toward them. The bugs became frantic, trying to get out, but it was too late. Ugly bird snatched up the spacecraft and tried to eat it.

“Awkie yum bugz,” Ugly Bird screeched. Fortunately, he was unable to get to the bugs due to the spacecraft. So he gave up and flung the spacecraft as far as he could.

And before they knew it, they were flung into space! They could see the Earth growing more distant by the moment, until they at last floated peacefully into orbit.

“This is way more amazing than I imagined!” Tater exclaimed.

The rest of the bugs just stared in awe, until Ladybug said, “Now, how do we get back down?”
