Truly Summer

It’s truly Summer
When I hear
Those katydids
Buzz in my ear
And see
Flashing fireflies
Blinking against
The starry skies

It’s truly Summer
When I witness
Caterpillar
To chrysalis
Transformed
Into a butterfly
Journeying
Way up high

It’s truly Summer
When I see
A ladybug
Crawling on me
Smell the sweet smell
Of flowers attracting bees
Only then can I tell
It’s truly Summer
