The Great Save

Andrew lugged the sled up to the top of the giant snowy hill. “Phew!” he gasped as he got it to the top.

His friend called from below. “Ready?”

“I’m going to do it now.” Andrew took a deep breath, then got on and scooted himself to the steep part.

“GO!” his friend called.

He went slowly at first, with little snowballs his sled made trailing him. The hill gradually got steeper, however. He got going faster and faster until he noticed a shadow was going over him. He looked around and saw a giant snowball, getting bigger and bigger, closer and closer. He tried to steer his sled out of the way, but because he was still looking back, he didn’t see a tree that was in his way.

Andrew hit the tree, causing him to fly off his sled, going straight into the path of the snowball. He frantically scrabbled out of the way of the snowball, but he knew it was too late.

But suddenly, the snow opened up under him He had fallen into a hole! The snowball rumbled overhead. When he got out to the hole, he saw that the snowball had smashed into a tree. He was safe!
