Bean 

Bean sits,
poised on her throne of carpet
looking out at the living room
not loftily
but proudly surveying her world.

She sits,
dark ears back
eyes rimmed with graying fur
tail hidden among white fluff
paws tucked away.

She sits,
old, though she is small
often called “baby bunny!”
but in reality, a grandmother in age
and is just small, very small.

She sits,
thoughts that we do not know
what we will not know forever
swirl inside her head
while she sits.
