The Big Toe!

One foggy evening a boy named Sam was walking through a graveyard when he saw something sticking out of the ground. It looked like a toe, but he thought that it was some kind of herb. He thought his mom could chop it up and put it in the soup she was making, so he tried pulling it out of the ground, but it wouldn’t budge. He got his dad to help him, and when they got the thing out, they took it home and put it in the soup.

At night, Sam brushed his teeth and put on his pajamas, and he went to bed. He heard the front door open and heard thumping on the steps. His bedroom door creaked open, and a shadowy figure walked in.

“Boo!” It scared Sam half to death, but it was just his dad trying to prank him. Once they said good night, he went back to sleep.

But then, he heard the front door open again. And then the thumping again, but this time, there was a low, deep voice. It said, “Sam, I’m on the first step. Sam, I’m on the second step. Sam, I’m on the third step.” And the voice said the same thing all the way until ten.

Sam’s door creaked open, and another shadowy figure walked into his room. This one was not his dad. Sam could see he had ragged hair and torn clothes. It looked like a corpse. And then it lunged at him and said, “Where’s my big toe!!”
