Web Bonus Art Contest: Draw Cricket Country

Have you ever wondered what would it be like to write and draw Cricket Country, like our staff artist Carolyn Digby Conahan? Now is your chance to try. For our Web contest, we'd like you to create your own cartoon starring the bugs.

Your cartoon can be on whatever topic you want. Will the bugs go on a summer adventure? Will they be chased by Ugly Bird? Will Ladybug cause trouble for Cricket (duh!)? That is, how will Ladybug cause trouble for Cricket? It's up to you.

You don't need to include everybuggy in your cartoon--draw just as many or as few bugs as you like. You can even make up a new bug! Whatever you think is funnest and funniest. Then read the Rules carefully below and mail us your most creative cartoon to arrive by June 25. We will post the winners on our Web site in July.

So, start thinking and sketching, and don't forget to visit the Author & Artist Corner for inspiration. Everybuggy (and Carolyn, too) will be pacing impatiently beneath the Cricket Country mailbox, waiting to see what adventure you've created for our bugs.

    Here are the only rules: (Hide Rules)
    1. Your contest entry must be your very own original work. Ideas and words should not be copied.
    2. If you're 14 years old or younger, your entry must be signed by your parent or guardian, saying it is your own original work, that no help was given, and granting Cricket permission to publish winning entries on our Web site. If you're older than 14, you must sign your own work, verifying that it is original.
    3. Be sure to include your name, age, and full address on your entry.
    4. Only one entry per person per contest, please.
    5. If you want your work returned, enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope for each entry.
    6. Incomplete entries cannot be considered. Your entry will be incomplete if you forget to include your age or a signature verifying that your work is original.
    7. Your entry must be received by June 25, 2009.
