Chatterbox: In This Month's Issue

Nobody has posted about this month's issue much, so I will:

Who liked this month's issue? I liked 'Secret Writing' a lot. Finally! I good secret code guide!

Does anyone else have any idea what Decla's Secret was all about? I liked it, but didn't quite get what the wolf was. Was he her imagination? Or a shadow? Or was one of those stories the kind that leaves you to decide on your own? And what did her brother have to do with it?

As usual, 'Old Cricket Says' was AWESOME. I've always wondered how people can tell those things about you by your writing.

I think you were just sort of supposed to figure it out yourself. It wasn't my favorite story, because, as you said, it didn't make much sense.Undecided

Actually I have a new way to look at that story about Decla:

I think the wolf was just pretend but her brother was trying to scare her, and her imagination was so vivid that she imagined the wolf howling. However, when she conquered her fear, she told her brother about it, and the way she said it made him think there was a real wolf under her bed. It sounds silly, it's probably all wrong. Then again, I think it's one of those stories where there's no right or wrong.

oh, and top!

Spammydude says gtay. G'day, mate! ;)

I also loved "Old Cricket Says".

Decla's Secret kind of confused me, too. At first, I thought it was a real wolf. Then I thought that her brother was a werewolf and he slept under her bed so that's why he was so shocked when she gave up "imagining" the wolf. Finally I thought that maybe she had imagined the wolf and then she finally got that the wolf wasn't there. I know. My theories are strange. :)

Good literature makes the reader think and consider various interpretations.

Yeah, I didn't really "get" Decla's Secret.  It seemed a little ...pointless, if you know what I mean...

Elizabeth M., I also had different theories in the course of reading the story. At first, I had no idea what to think, then I thought the wolf was real but some kind of magical spirit. Then I thought Decla's brother was trying to trick her, then I thought it was a stray dog or something that had wandered under Decla's bed. I still don't know exaclty what to think, but it was a pretty good story.
