I didn't like it at first, and I'm still not sure, but I'm warming to it a little!!!  The drawings aren't very good though, when it comes to Cymbril and Loric's faces, but I do like the way she did the old lady's face.  :)

Wow, a lot of you guys are new to the mag!  I think The star shard is good, but on the level of things cricket has done in the past, only good.  My favorite serial story was "the price of shaping".  The artwork was beautiful and the plot was interesting.

So back to the star shard, isnt the Thunder Rake kind of like Howls Moving Castle?  Not that I want to offend anybuggy, mind you.  The story is great, the illustrations are great, and the idea of doing a serial for a year is great. It just seems like the whole magazine revolves around this story now, and used to be, there were two or even three ongoing stories at a time.

For instance:

June 2006 cricket: 64 pages, 7 poems, 5 fictional stories, 2 nonfictional stories, 2 continuing stories, 1 activity, and the cricket readers recommend page.

The may/june cricket: 48 pages, 3 poems, 5 fictional stories, 1 nonfictional story, 1 continuing story, 1 activity, and the favorite first sentences page.

See what I mean?
