The January MCU!

The January MCU!

Hello, happy new year, and welcome to the January Monthly Check Up. My name is Seadragon, my pronouns are she/her, and I will be hosting this MCU. And my cohosts are...are...(shouts into wings of The MCU Stage) WHY MUST YOU BE LATE?!

~Coming, coming *sticks head out from curtains* My name is Izzy, my pronouns are she/her, and I am so far enjoying 2025 but I hate public speaking so...*dashes out of sight*~

Izzy is the elder sister and the less chaotic one.

--*runs onstage to share the podium with Seadragon* And I'm the more chaotic one! My name is Ramya, and my pronouns are she/her, and I'm also enjoying 2025, but it feels really weird to write the date. Does that happen to anyone at New Year's or just even New Month's?--

Ramya is the younger sister, too. Whenever the AEs are saying the same thing at the same time it looks like ~--this--~. Anyway.

A moment of silence for the lovely Ella Starburst, creator of MCUs. Thank you very much, Ella!

(After a moment) We will now proceed with CB Quotes, courtesy of CelineBurning Bright:

"i was one of the many new cbers who joined during the pandemic—it
was such a fun, vibrant, hopeful, and welcoming community, and i
honestly don’t know how i would’ve gotten through the pandemic without
it. i’m so grateful for all of those people who chatted with me, rped
with me, supported my writing, and taught me about aes and ski lodges
and topping (i thought “top” was an annoying spammer who would post long
strings of comments but wouldn’t write anything XD) when i first
joined, even though many of those people are no longer active (though
quite a few still are, ofc :D).
" - pangolin, pangolin's cbversary thread <3

"The US faked the moon landing by going to the moon and filming it
there, because they didn't have the technology to film it on Earth.
" - Sinusoidal Polyglot (Sine signed his name just "Sinusoidal" here, though), Theory thread

"clothes companies make women's pockets small so they'll buy bags" - Darkvine, Theory thread --This is one of the great annoyances of life--

"Guys I think I know which song I am. Try to guess... (don't overthink it)" - Piano Man, CBers as Songs thread

"I'm sad the CB doesn't seem to have as many new CBers :( growing
up the CB was such a great influence & inspired me to start my
entire creative writing journey. I feel like gen alpha could definitely
use a positive internet space like the CB instead of whateverother
sites.
" - Ditto, Random Thoughts/Things

"A cat appeared at my house day after Christmas... He's the sweetest everrrr

We've been calling him Sage, and we're not sure if he has owners or not, but I'm hoping he doesn't so we can keep him <3" - Hawkstar, Random Thoughts/Things ~--awww, we hope you can too--~ --Since when were you here?-- ~Oh, recently~

"New discovery! If you're on a site and you don't have Wifi you can
use the site if you don't try to change pages. If you want to be on CB
in the car, get on a commenting page before then.
" - Climate Bee, Random Thoughts/Things

"bOoKs aRe aN eNdAnGeReD sPeCiEs, wE mUsT sAvE tHeM hUmAnS aRe cUtTiNg dOwN tHeIr hOmEs

(sorry if that was hard to read...)

(and also sorry for the little comma splice, why are comma splices so visually appealing?)" - Lyric, Random Thoughts/Things ~SAVE THE BOOKS!~

"one time my grandpa made me eggs with egg nog instead of milk bc he didn't read the bottle. it tasted really gross  >:P

and then he ate the rest of it so i guess he liked it" - Elly, Random Thoughts/Things

"the other day I walked into my dad's work-from-home office with
the intention of asking him a question. instead I let out the loudest
and most violent sneeze of my entire life and walked out without saying
anything. neither of us acknowledged it for days
" - Darkvine, Random Thoughts/Things

"right?? i can't believe 2024 is almost over -- 2025 still sounds like Generic Sci Fi Year Of The Distant Future to me" - pangolin, Random Thoughts/Things

Me too...it's weird to think it we are already 1/4 done with this century...Now, the Monthly Playlist, which has been compiled by pangolin:

"Glory of the Snow" by Clairo

"Thrown Down" by Fleetwood Mac

"pleaser" by Paris Paloma

"Runaway" by AURORA

"New Year's Day" by Taylor Swift ~I love this song!~

Now it is time for the LMWAY --which is actually Right Now We Are Asking You and You Can Answer in the Comments.-- ~True, true.~ Anyway, right now we are asking you: What's an item on your bucket list? For the year, or for life.

~I would like to write 60 books. Or more.~

I hope that that is for life and not this year, unless you aspire to write little kids' fiction or something.

~It is definitely for life, and since when have I seemed to be interested in little kids' fiction?~

Okay, good. And since never. Ramya?

--I don't have a bucket list! It's kind of early to start compiling things to do before you die.--

A valid point--

~But what if you die young, and in your last moments, you think you should've done more and maybe made a list to help you do it?~

Also valid.--But morbid.--

January is National Braille Literacy Month, National Blood Donor Month, Human Trafficking Awareness Month, Glaucoma Awareness Month, and Cervical Cancer Health Awareness Month. --Seadragon's birthday occurs sometime in the first week of January, but she has instructed us repeatedly not to disclose the exact date.-- ~She instructed you repeatedly.~ --You were in the room too!-- *Prevents a scuffle/long argument between AEs, sighing*

And this is it, because it's better to have a shorter, timely MCU than a longer, late one. --We need more CBers to participate for February!-- This is true, though we quite understand being busy. A vast thank you to the CBers who contributed! --And the AEs.-- Yes, thank you to you two, too. ~You're welcome.~

So, goodbye! Have a nice month! From me, Seadragon, after I read the third preview and declare this good enough and free of errors.

~This is Izzy, who wishes you a happy January!~

--I am Ramya, and I say, bye!--

*claps* This was great, thanks for hosting! For LMWAY (or RNWAY), I'd say that an item on my bucket list for this year is to keep my ski lodge alive and running :)

Something on my bucket list is writing 202500 words in total this year and going to south Europe. Oh, and baking a multi-tier cake, but that's not happening soon :(
