The MCU (Monthly Check Up) is a CB tradition, invented by a former CBer called Ella Starburst, and it's sort of like a newsletter that happens on the 1st of every month. Basically, people contribute parts of a list of various things, such as a playlist, interesting holidays in the month, book reviews, quotes (from books, CBers, and inspirational people), and the host puts them all together and posts them on the 1st. The planning thread is where the putting-together-of-the-list happens.
