Really good. I got third overall and first for girls. My time was also faster than the fastest racers in the category above me, who did the same course, so I feel pretty good.

Also, I made a bet with my social studies teacher that if I got top 10, he wouldn't make my class do the quiz, so that was a nice bonus.

thanks for giving me a chance to respond - i appreciate it :]

I really like the next part of your story, Moon Wolf!! the worldbuilding seems cool - definitely seems futuristic and dystopian. and i like how you're introducing conflict with Akira and her father - seems like it'll be very important later on in the story. and like WiLdSoNg said, it's very interesting and engaging!!

WiLdSoNg, you've read the Nevermoor series?? that's so cool! do you have a favorite character? it's one of my favorite series because of the amazing almost-whimsical worldbuilding - i loved Harry Potter, and this has a similar vibe, but without the problematic aspects. also, i was first exposed to the series through my awesome fourth grade teacher who read the first book aloud to us (and did voices for the characters :]) so i just have overall good memories surrounding it. i can't wait for the fourth book - unless there's another delay, it's scheduled for release in september!! :D

And ooh I just looked up Bittersweet in the Hollow - it looks really cool! i love contemporary fantasy - i'll definitely check it out~

For the holidays, I got a Over the Garden Wall (one of my favorite shows) sweatshirt, New York Botanical Gardens mushroom identification flashcards, and some calligraphy stuff :] what about you, WiLdSoNg?

something that i achieved last year - hmm. i'm really proud of winning first place in the junior division for the city-wide National History Day competition! my partner and i worked really hard on our exhibit, and we advanced to states (though we did not place in states, unfortunately :P). i'm also pretty proud of getting into a good high school - and actually starting high school! what about you guys? what achievements from this past year are you proud of?

so you guys started school up again this week - how's it been going so far? and do either of you have a favorite subject (wait, did someone already ask this question? oh well lol)?

pangolin said it really well! It definitely seems dystopian which is one of my favorite genres!

I'm afraid I'm not going to be able to answer many of your questions about Nevermoor. I read it a while ago and don't remember much of it. Would you mind giving me a refresher? It sounds like you have some really good memories of reading it when you were younger. I have a book that was read to me similarly so I remember it fondly. It was the book Swindle, by Gordon Korman.
For the holidays I got an Xbox (I don't know what my parents were thinking XD), a Fitbit, a really cool sweatshirt, and these pens that look like henna when you draw on yourself. It was a great holiday!
Wow pangolin! That's really impressive! Way to go! Something I'm proud of is having my bat mitzvah (it was a lot of work) and starting a new school! Big change makes my really stressed so I feel pretty good about that.
Yes, unfortunately I've started school. I like the idea of school, but I don't always find it engaging, so that's tricky. My favorite subject is when my social studies and ELA teacher find ways to connect their end-of-unit projects, because they are always fun! Otherwise, I like social studies more than ELA, but I think that's just because I have a hard class behaviorally. Do either of you feel like your classes are often very chaotic and annoying?

Tysm for all ur kind comments! I'll post more when I have the time.

Thats rlly cool, @pangolin! Something I'm proud of is starting a new school and finishing my ski lodge.

I also like social studies! I definitely feel like my classes are very chaotic and annoying. Any of you have joined clubs?

Also, whats your opinion on the winter season? Do you enjoy the cold and maybe snow? Or do you prefer summer?

Clubs hmmmm... the only clubs I can join are in school, because of all my sports. But I did join the Theater club! So I guess that counts. What about you?

Personally, I love the winter season. Where I live it gets chilly and snowy. I love downhill skiing an$ Nordic skiing and ice skating and basically any winter activity involving snow or ice. Also, my birthday is in the winter so there's that. I do love the other seasons though and I'm always hesitant to pick a favorite. How about you two?

here's a question to answer (random, yes I know): if you could pick one fairy tale to rewrite how you want, which would it be and why?

I was hoping to give @pangolin a chance to respond, but seeing it's been a while...

I've joined the creative writing club at my school, as well as the Christians on campus and asian culture club. What do you like about theater club?

Same, I like winter. I really love to see snow, especially in the mountains. My b-day is in the winter as well. I especially love just curling indoors with a book and a cup of tea or hot cocoa when its rlly cold outside.

If I did pick a fairy tale...hmm, that's pretty hard, but I'd probably go with a classic, like Cinderella. I would try to rewrite it modernly, and I wonder what would happen if I swapped the roles around so that it's Princess Charming or whatever and Prince...Cinders? idk how about you?

Hm, random question, what would be your dream vacation?

I think I'll just post. We should keep giving pangolin a chance to respond, though.

Nice, @Moon Wolf! Those clubs sound interesting and it sounds like you are very involved and busy! I like the kids in theater. Most of them are pretty cool. There can be some strange ones, but I have a lot of friends doing it, so that's fun! I also like watching a show come together, blocking, and memorizing lines! It's just so fascinating and fun! Which is your favorite club, why, and what do you do in it?

Yes, that description is absolutely perfect. Books, fire, snow softly falling. Just amazing.

Hmmmm, that's a cool one! I'd love to hear that story some day. Or perhaps modernizing it in a way without gender roles or creating a LGBTQIA+ character/characters? I have a book written be the author of School for Good and Evil and basically it's just a bunch of rewritten fairytales. My favorite is his retelling of Sleeping Beauty. It's a bit strange, so I'd probably rewrite it to make a bit more sense in my brain.

My dream vacation would probably be to somewhere with few people, nice snow, great skiing, great soccer, cozy houses, books, and nice neighbors. But I'm not sure where that it. What about you?

AAAH HI I'M HERE :D i'm SO sorry it took me so long to reply D: thank you so much for giving me a chance to reply, though, i really appreciare it <3

all the clubs you two are in sound really awesome :D i've always wanted to get into theater, but i've never really had the chance/time for it. it sounds really fun, though, and so do your clubs, Moon Wolf :D i'm involved in my school's art and literary magazine (we just published a zine! we're going to distribute it this week, hopefully :D) and the publishing house. they're both really fun.

ooh yes i love winter too! both of you gave really good descriptions! i love seeing snow (though unfortunately there hasn't been a lot of it where i live this year :/), cozying up with a book and cup of tea, and all the winter sports :D do you guys have anything planned for february break (if your school has that week off)?

oh that's a good question! i love the idea of fairy tale retellings - especially ones with more diverse representation! i'd probably go with sleeping beauty because the whole concept of being asleep for a hundred years leaves lots of room for angst >:) that book by the author of The School for Good and Evil sounds cool! :D have you read Tangleweed and Brine? it's another book of fairy tale retellings - some of them are pretty dark and a bit strange, but i really liked it :D

that sounds like an awesome vacation, WiLdSoNg :D i think my dream vacation would be traveling across Ireland - it's so beautiful there. what about you, Moon Wolf?

hmm, another random question~ if you could travel to any fictional world, where would you go?

Oooh @pangolin those clubs sound rlly cool. What is the magazine about?

Unfortunately, my school doesn't have February break (if only). Do you have any plans?

I haven't read Tangleweed and Brine yet. What's it about? And yes, Sleeping Beauty would be interesting to retell.

I might say in Canadian forests because they all seem really pretty, especially during the summer. Is there anywhere you've visited before at least once that you want to visit again?

That's hard to choose from all those fictional worlds...they're all so well-built. I'd probably have to say either Harry Potter or KOTLC because they sound so cool and fantasy-like. I would especially want to see mAgIc.

Any book (or book series) you've read recently that you really liked?

Hey!

those clubs do sound fun! Also, Tangleweed and Brine sound cool too! I'm going to add it to my reading list!

Yes, I have plans for February break! My family is going to Florida because my grandparents rented a house for us to come and stay! I wasn't so excited before, but now I'm looking forward to it a little more. Sorry your school doesn't have a February break, Moon Wolf. I really don't know a what I'd do without one!

Canadian forests, nice! I would probably go back to Italy, because my family is part Italian so I've been twice and loved it! What about you, pangolin?

I could never choose a fictional world. I just love all of them and choosing one would feel wrong.

T-T

i just finished This Girl America and That Girl America and the do go into some more difficult topics but they're really god. I also recently finished The 57 Bus and that was sooooo good.

hi! :D

thanks! both of the clubs are really fun. our most recent magazine was themed around "love and hate," so we had a lot of poetry, art, and photography that somehow represented love, hate, or both :D i think it turned out really neat!

ahh i'm sorry you don't have February break, Moon Wolf! like WiLdSoNg said, i don't know what i'd do without one! your plans sound fun, WiLdSoNg - sounds like you'll get to spend a lot of time with your family, that's nice :D for February break, my family is going upstate to my grandmother's house, and we're going to do some snowboarding! i'm looking forward to it because i haven't seen my grandmother in a while :]

ooh, Canadian forests and Italy both sound lovely! hmm, i think i'd want to go back to Amsterdam, or maybe Prague. i went to both when i was eight, and i don't remember much, but they were both gorgeous cities! plus i have relatives just outside of Amsterdam, so it'd be nice to see them again!

yeah, it's so hard to choose! i'd go with Nevermoor, probably, or maybe the world from The Phantom Tollbooth, or perhaps Henrietta from The Raven Cycle (though that isn't technically another world - it's just a fictional town in Virginia?)...but it's impossible to choose just one!!

those books sound really interesting, WiLdSoNg! i'll check them out :) i recently read A Separate Peace and it's sooo good. what about you, Moon Wolf? read any good books lately?

do you guys have any pet peeves?
