Chatterbox: In This Month's Issue

I have recently started getting cricket mags again so I thought I'd post on this (AHH 50th anniversary!!) bc it's my first magazine since a while.

FIRST OF ALL WHAT THERE ARE TOO GOOD THINGS TO BE SAID ABOUT CICADAS!!!

Like, for example, "Cicadas are not dangerous and can provide some environmental benefits including: Cicadas are a valuable food source for birds and other predators. Cicadas can aerate lawns and improve water filtration into the ground. Cicadas add nutrients to the soil as they decompose." and, AHEM, they ARE cute!! So I just write a response poem :)

 I've thought it over once or twice

like you've asked and I

have come to the conclusion

That cicadas CAN be nice!

There ARE things to say about them that are kind and good,

They're very beneficial to living things of wood!

They prune the trees and weed them out,

Fertilize, give them a shout!  

They give the birds something to eat

So don't go crushing them with your feet!

Swarming is but a survival instinct

And by the way, they can't bite (it's physically impossible) or sting!
