LMWAY (Last Month We Asked You):
Chances are, it's summer where you live!!! (Oh, you live in the Southern Hemisphere? hehe sorry :-[ ) In the Northern Hemisphere, it's hot and sunny. For this LMWAY, we want to know what your most creative way of staying cool during the summer is.
LotM (Location of the Month):
Summer is a time for inspiration. Enter your best summer-themed location; winners will appear in the August MCU!
Advice Column:
This MCU is for August - the last
month of vacation. At the end of it, most of us will be picking up our
textbooks and going back to school (or, possibly, staying at home and
being homeschooled?). Give us your opinion on how you can prepare for
the next school year.

LMWAY: wear really light clothes, eat ice cream, and take baths with cold water (if you can bear getting that cold).

Advice Column: My best way of preparing for it is... not to think about it! That way I get more rested. And to spend my time doing fun, unstructured things, so that when September rolls around, I'm readier to actually do something that requires deep thought and dedication :)
Important Dates:
August 19: the anniversary of the day my guinea pig died :(
August 24: Family Day (I decided of my own accord that in my family, this would be the designated Family Day - there's Mother's Day, and Father's Day, but I wanted to have a Family Day too :) )

Just making sure, do I add these important dates to what I'm writing? Or does whoever's hosting (I think Amethyst)?
LMWAY: eating cold things, turning up the AC (or going to cooling centers open to the public), jumping into the pool, chugging cold water with ice cubes (though this probably isn't that healthy)
LOTM: on the sun
Advice: get into the habit of waking up early again, maybe ease into doing work again if you're the kind of person who transitions slowly, so do a math worksheet a day, which will also help if you're doing math and have already learned (or have been exposed to) the concepts, which will also (also) make the school year easier. Maybe set goals you want to accomplish this school year. Honestly, I'm kinda excited for school to start (though Summer is FREEDOM!!).

Oh, yes, I'm hosting :) And basically, hosting means *trying* to organize the preparations, and then putting all the things that have been submitted for the MCU together in a single thread, interspersing them wtih AE banter, judging the LotM entries, and posting it. So I'll be doing all those things :)

LMWAY: cold showers! That's all I got. I'm in the more Northern part of the Northern Hemisphere, so it's not super hot here.

Advice Column: I think Poinsettia has the right idea? Don't worry about it until it's actually happening.

LMWAY: Take cold showers, suck on ice cubes or eat frozen things, and go swimming, unless it's so hot that the water isn't very cooling.
Advice: Like people have said, try not to worry about the start of school.

Important dates/commentary! (With AEs ***Celine*** and <Tumblebug>, btw, this is kinda like their first time actually communicating with the rest of the world and not just standing there, so yay! Some Notable Month Long Observances~
August is...
- International Peace Month (a time to reflect on WWI), NOT to be confused with International Peace DAY on Sep 21! ***whaa??? I'm confused.*** <It's not THAT hard to understand!> ***But is it August or September??*** <what month are we talking about?! Look at the title!> ***oh*** <*face-palms*> ..... ***I'm still confused***
- for all those dog-lovers out there, National Dog Month! <eek! Dogs? Where?!> ***but dogs are ADORABLE!!*** <yeah, until they SQUISH you!>
- National Hair Loss Awareness Month! This is an actual issue and ppl need to talk about it! And I actually didn’t know this until literally right now when I stumbled upon National Hair Loss Awareness Month, so, hey! It’s doing its job!
- *sigh* It’s also Back to School Month, so start wrapping up summer break, people! Buy supplies! Get into the schedule of waking up early again! We’re going back to school (but admittedly this isn’t so bad. I, personally, love school) ***WAIT!! I can’t sleep in anymore?!?!*** Relax, Celine! You don’t even go to school! You live on some remote island in a faraway ocean where all you do is dream about breaking free, remember? ***oh, right.***
- related: National Crayon Collection Month. Make sure everyone, no matter who, has the necessary school supplies needed to get the good education they deserve!
- Family Fun Month! Have some quality fun times with your family!
- Happiness Happens Month! Oh, I LOVE the wording of this one! It makes it feel like happiness is a negative thing and someone’s complaining: “but does happiness HAVE to happen?!” Yeah, sorry, but Happiness Happens, kid! Just deal with it! Celebrate the things that make you happy! ***yayy!!! *does cartwheel in the air* I’M SO HAPPYYYY!!!*** or, well, yeah! Or you can just be happy for no reason! :)
- National Black Business Month. A great month to celebrate black-owned businesses!! Though all months are great for this!
- National Road Victim Month. Let’s take a moment for those people who have lost their life to or been injured by our roads and vehicles. Drive safely and responsibly everyone! Watch out for pedestrians! Follow the rules!

- The Dog Days of Summer. Mon, July 3, 2023-Fri, Aug 11, 2023. <and here we go with the dogs again> So THAT’S why tennis camp has been SO. UNBEARABLY. HOT.
