LMWAY by Majestic Mary
Hey! That’s you!
Yes, it is.
How intellectual.
School is finally coming to an end for most CBers, but boredom may appear in the oncoming summer vacation. What are some ways to make the most of every day and keep boredom at bay during the summer?
Periwinkle says: "Try to keep busy! Create fun challenges! Talk to family and friends! Read! Write! Try new things! Make brownies! Give me brownies! I'm hungry for brownies!"
Wolfy_Walker_7 says: "I often find myself longing for seasons half a year away, but when they come, I do nothing. I think the best strategy is to make plans and stick to them. Remember the things about summer that you get nostalgic about, and try to do them and enjoy them."
Feline Fantasy says: "I have no right to say this, considering I'm a Master Procrastinator who is terrible at being productive, but stay busy. Any projects that would be "Just so cool?" Do those. Drag yourself out of bed, and make a checklist for what you want to do for the day! Or the week, month, whatever."
peppermint says: "Find a new hobby! Practice a favorite sport! Learn how to do a cartwheel! You can also create a list of goals for the summer, and try to check off all of them by a certain date. Oh, and to-do lists are always helpful!! :)"
Luna-Starr says: "take walks, read books, re organize your room, watch shows and movies you've been interested in seeing, hang out with your friends when possible. Make a list of things you're interested in trying and do them to the best of your ability!"
Well, what lovely ideas we have here, right?
I think sitting at home and reading most of the time would be the best way to spend our summer.
I think we should spend the summer outside, soaking up the sun, and enjoying nature!
Or we could go cliff jumping.

Or not go cliff jumping, whatever. Gosh.
Anyway… Let’s move on to our
THINGS OF THE MONTH presented to you by Writing_in_the_dark!
Quote: “*casually walks into room with hippo penguin hybrid on a leash*” - cerinthe
Song: Scott, Get The Van I’m Moving (Cayetana)
Random fact: Bees are found on every single continent except for Antarctica.
How to: HOW TO READ: Well, you’re reading this right now, are you not?!?!?!?
How do you even get a hippo penguin onto a leash?
How do you even get a hippo penguin?
Questions scientists still can’t answer…
Aaaand next up is the
LOCATION OF THE MONTH by Twilight
Third place: drinking milkshakes
Why: I love milkshakes
Second place: under the sun
Why: it's a very summery thing and June means summer
First place: FREEEEEEEE!!
Why: I think this is self-explanatory.
School’s out for the summer!
*starts singing high school musical*
we’re all in this together…
Doo doo doo… dooo doo dooo…
Um. While they are distracted, let’s move on to the advice column, presented by Princess Juniper.
ADVICE COLUMN by Princess Juniper!
How do I stop comparing myself to other CBers?
If you are comparing yourself to other CBers, just think about what makes you special! I think that you are perfect just the way you are. Now let’s hear what the CBers have to say.
Periwinkle says: "Listen. CBers are nice, supportive people, and it's not like they're ever thinking, "ha, (CBer name) has such bad grammar" or "yikes, that's a bad poem." It doesn't matter to them if you're like them or not, and chances are right as you tell yourself "well (example CBer) knows how to draw," another CBer is saying, "(your CBer name) could do this easy-peasy! It's not about who they are, it's about who you are and who you want to be."
Wolfy_Walker_7 says: "Remember that you are a unique and valued person. Everyone is awesome in their own way."
Feline Fantasy says: "It might take time -- it's hard to not compare oneself to other CBers! Start listing the things great about you. You can take a break from certain threads for a while, (i.e. compliment threads, art posting threads) or the CB, if you need to. Remember, YOU are amazing! It can be hard to remember that, surrounded by so many talented people, but you have your own virtues!"
peppermint says: "Recognize that everyone has different strengths and remember that everyone contributes to the CB in their own way!"
Luna-Starr says: "I'm not sure if there's any advice I could give you that would make it stop instantly, but remember that everyone compares themselves to someone else. Somebody could be looking up to you. Somebody that you think is amazing could be thinking very little of themselves. Nobody is completely confident in themselves."
… when we stand, hand in hand
Make our dreams come truueeee
Are you guys done yet?
I guess so.
And now it’s time for Lupine’s culture section!
CULTURE SECTION by Lupine
Summer Solstice Around the World
In The U.S. people don't do much for the summer solstice, but in other countries it's a big deal! In Scandanavia, Lithuania, Estonia, and Latvia (where the solstice is called Jāņi or Līgo), people dance around maypoles (ironic because the solstice is in June), have bonfires, decorate their homes with greenery, and wear wreaths made of flowers and leaves. In Latvia, you're not supposed to sleep the night before the solstice; sleeping is only allowed after sunrise.
Sorry, Latvia, but I value my sleep.
Staying up all night sounds fun!
Everyone should make it a point to get at least eight hours of nightly sleep.
Thank you for the tips, Diana. And now we move on to-
Book of the month, presented by Peregrine. Finally something interesting.
BOOK OF THE MONTH by Peregrine
Echo Mountain by Lauren Wolk
Ellie only wants to heal her father, to wake him from his coma. Perhaps if he wakes her family will stop unraveling. But with each treatment Ellie tries her mother gets angrier and her family only unravels faster. The discovery of the old hag that lives above them on Echo Mountain leads Ellie to hope. Maybe the hag can heal her father. But the hag is injured and ill, and Ellie must heal her first. The hag and Ellie's father aren't the only ones who need healing though. Can Ellie heal all the hurts, or are there some that cannot be healed?
Seems interesting. I’ll add it to my to-be-read list.
Isn’t that list, like, a mile long?
Yes, it is.
Wow, a list that long deserves an award… Speaking of, we have our CBer awards!
That was a terrible transition.
I thought it was good.
Thanks, Diana.
CBer AWARDS by Luna-Starr
Long-lasting SI: Purple!
While I'm not a participant myself, I've loved watching this SI from afar. I've never seen one that had as many replies! Nice job keeping people engaged for so long.
Reviver of an old game: Dolphin!
We're so glad to see both you and the caption contest back on the CB! I don't usually participate myself, but I'm glad to see you back on the CB and how glad everyone was to have the Caption Contest back.
Unique new thread: Feline Fantasy!
I don't think I've ever seen a math thread before! You found a fun way for people to share about something they may not enjoy, and that we all can help each other with.
And that appears to be the end of our June MCU! We hope you enjoyed reading along with us today. Thank you to the MCU Team:
Peregrine, Majestic Mary, Feline Fantasy, MoonKitten, Twilight, Princess Juniper, Writing_in_the_Dark, Luna-Starr, and of course the gone but not forgotten: Ella Starburst.
Keep an eye out for July MCU threads and, in the meantime, enjoy your June! Bye, everyone!
Bye!
Bye.
Bye!
Bye.
Bye!
Bye.
You know, it doesn’t actually matter who the last person to say “bye” on a thread is-
Bye! *posts*

Nice job interjecting, Mary! And a wonderful job to everyone who participated! Lupine, your culture section is really interesting. I never knew about Latvia's summer soltice sleeping rule. I'd probably break it with out meaning to (I'm an early bird and I go to bed early). I forgot to add, but I think june 30 is also UFO day. Let us know if you see any UFOs!
To the MCU Team: You are not quite free yet. We still need to make the July MCU. So please post your promtps and contributions on the MCU planning thread I will be making today. If you want to be free for the whole summer you can post your contributions for the August MCU too. Just make sure to specify which month it belongs to. Thanks in advance!

for whatever reason the italics/bold didn't work (i think it's because i copied from google docs) so just use context clues to figure out who's talking.
