Cricket Logo Change???
Chatterbox: In This Month's Issue
Cricket Logo Change???
Cricket Logo Change???
Has anyone else gotten their October Cricket? THEY CHANGED THE LOGO! It used to be in this cool calligraphy font with Cricket perched at the end and now it's this big orange square. I'm sad. I suggest a petition to bring back the old logo.
(Don't ask why this bothers me so much but it does)

Oh no! I briefly saw the new one on the homepage but I was hoping it was wrong. I definitely agree with what everyone else has said. The old one is so... Cricket. The new one reminds me more of Spider or Ladybug. One of my favorite things about Cricket (and the other mags) is the timeless, intricately beautiful aesthetic. When I look at it I want to think "great reading inside", not "little kids' magazine". Yes, I realize I'm 15, but that's exactly the point! We still love it even as we grow older.
I respect the decisions of the Editors, but I would certainly be interested to know why? Was there something wrong with the old one, or did they just want to refresh it?

Yeah, I think they changed all of them. My sister gets Spider and Faces, an the October issues have the new Cricket logo at the top and then a less stylized font with the name of the magazine below. I also prefer the old logo, and I don't like that it now says "Literary adventures for independent readers."

The thing that gets me raging is the new subtitle. "Literary adventures for independent readers."
Seriously? We are not little kids. Most of us are tweens and teenagers. 8 year olds are "independent readers".

Could they maybe keep the old one on the Chatterbox? Like, if they were going to change it, just not? Please? We love our Realm of Imagination! :)

I agree with everyone that the old logo was better, BUT! It's still there, just not on the cover! It's on the CB, and it's on the inside cover of the magazine, so it's not totally gone. Just in case that makes anyone feel any better. :)

Yea I liked the old one better

I agree that the old one is better. I don't think the new one is necessarily bad but the old one looks better. I think it matches things better and looks more sophisticated. The new logo looks more childish, and I think the old logo works better for marketing because it would interest more people. I think that with the new logo people might dismiss the magazine quickly thinking it's only for little kids.

Yes! I loved the old logo! and it wasn't just the logo on the Cricket magazines. They put the logo on all the other mags now. Please bring back the beautiful old one!

Nightfall, I understand that you're frustrated with CBers on the Chatterbox, but there are certain things that I feel it just doesn't make sense to be mad about. For example, your post on This Month that was a petition to change the logo. When a few people said that they think it's up to the editors, and it's ultimately their decision, it wasn't to anger you. In fact, they weren't being disrespectful at all! They were all just politely saying that although they liked the older logo better, it's the editor's decision. None of their comments were made as a personal attack towards you! I just feel as if it's not fair to get mad at a bunch of people when they didn't do anything wrong. No one is trying to go against you, so it doesn't make sense to get mad at everyone for in my opinion no big reason.

*sighs* Everyone around here doesn't understand me. And I would appreciate you revealing yourself, this isn't something that you don't want everyone to know. *sighs* Maybe it's best if I just don't make any threads from now on...and keep all my ideas to myself. *sighs*

Hi! So, first of all, I already said I was sorry for being part of something that made you feel bad, and I am sorry, but I also must say I agree with the anonymous poster to some extent. None of us meant anything bad, and now that we've stated that I don't think it's fair for you to act like we did.
I understand what it's like to have an idea rejected, in fact it's because of my fear of it that I rarely make threads, so I admire you for putting what you have out there. Just because one idea wasn't absolutely perfect doesn't mean you shouldn't keep putting them out there! If everyone did that, there'd be so many amazing things that never made it into the world. If fact, I think we all suppport the petition, although we shouldn't have repeated that same thing. I'm just saying, maybe you shouldn't act like we're bad people, because we're not. We've made up for it sufficiently, I believe, so let's try to forgive and forget, ok?
Again, no hard feelings!
We want to remind everyone that often when it looks like similar things have been posted more than once, it is because the person posting the second time never saw the first post. Posts do not immediately show up because we have to read them all first. Thanks for being patient with us and understanding with each other.-Admin
