New Cricket!Okay,
Chatterbox: In This Month's Issue
New Cricket!Okay,
New Cricket!
Okay, I am LITERALLY holding my new Cricket right now!
This month, let's have an actual discussion about it!
What did you like? What did you dislike? What was your favorite article? Least favorite? Did you like the art?
I will respond with mine after I actually read it...This time I will try not to speed read it all at once.
Oh! Also, did any of your posts show up in the Chirps from Chatterbox section?

I REALLY liked the poems....I always do.....And the cover art was very cool, it seemed like an interesting style of art and the deer on the front had a lot of personality!

On the page of the poem called The Fawn, there was a picture of the most ADORABLE fawn I’ve ever seen! Did anyone else love this?
I’m generally a fan of the science fiction stories, but this time it wasn’t my favorite, surprisingly. I really enjoyed the story about the unicorn (though I can’t remember what it was called).

I am a very opinionated person, so here is my massive list of opinons:
I didn't really like Yuliya's Fawn; I think it had a lot of plotholes, and also, why would Yulia run off with a shapeshifting Fawn/boy she didn't know? I do think that it would make a nice RP.
I did like The Last Kirin, it is very sweet, and uses tropes like princess with animal friends and last unicorn without having them be corny. I also like the illustrations.
I didn't really like Thoko's Gift--I feel like the author was writing the story just to show what christmas is like in Zambia, and if she wanted to do that, I think it would be better as a non fiction story. As it was, I felt like I was getting names, dates, places, and information dumped on me without much plot.
Her Hands That Held the Stars; I liked this one, but I do feel like the stars on hand thing was pushing the suspending disbelief a little too far. I wish the author had written more of this!
I like The Day the War Stopped for Christmas. Very sweet, and nice sentiment! I also liked Winkie.
The Magic Seeds; Hmm. I liked this one. I feel like the author just managed to pull the plot off without is seeming ridiculous, just by the tone. Like, if you consider it afterwards, people jumping out of pumpkins?
Has anyone ever won one of art or poetry contests?
Oh, and old cricket. Always so good.

I agree about Thoko's Gift. It didn't really have a point....maybe it should have been longer. Or there at LEAST should have been a bit more context?

Like I posted recently, I like how a lot of the beginning of the magazine was about deer, since there was one in my yard a week or two ago. I think I'm going to enter the poetry contest. (I say that every month and never get around to it, but oh well.)
