If you don't know much about Pokemon, join anyway! It's pretty easy once you get used to it.
So I was thinking that we can be in the Kanto region. After all, Kanto is the original.
Step by step to creating a trainer:
Step 1:
Start with the regular basis for characters. (I'll use mine as example.):
Name:Hikaru
eye color: green
personality: extremely competitive, likes to have a good time
hair: black, always in a braid
Step 2 :
Choose your starter:
>charmander- a fire type
>squirtle- a water type
>bulbasaur- a grass type
(mine is a charmander)
It's okay to choose the same starter as someone else, just not too many of the same one. All starters are received from Professor Oak in his lab in pallet town. (You may want to look up a map of Kanto.)
Step 3:
Know these important points
-traditionally, trainers come from Pallet town
-Professor Oak is the character with the least common sense (he will ask you things like "are you a boy, or a girl?")
-the goal is to collect eight gym badges to move on to the Pokemon league
-1st gym- Brock in Pewter City- rock types- boulder badge
-2nd gym- Misty in Cerulean City- water types-cascade badge
-3rd gym- Lt. Surge in Vermillion City- electric types- thunder badge
-4th gym- Erika in Celadon City- grass types- rainbow badge
-5th gym- Koga- poison types- soul badge
-6th gym- Sabrina- psychic types- marsh badge
-7th gym- Blaine- fire types- volcano badge
-8th gym- Giovanni- ground types- earth badge
- team rocket will keep popping up to cause trouble (not always the stereotypical Jesse and James, though)
-once all eight gym badges have been obtained, you will go the the indigo plateau to battle the elite four:
-Loreli- ice types
-Bruno- fighting types
-Agatha- ghost types
-Lance- dragon types
-and then if you defeat them, time for the champion, blue
I would give you a type chart, but I can't type anymore. It's all over the internet though.

So, after my long rant, what you do to make the story is first get your starter and develop rivalries and use your imagination for the rest. :)

Alrighty then, here I go!

I walk into Professor Oak's labratory, ready to get my first ever Pokemon. Before I came to his lab I bought some Pokeballs and a new rucksack with some Poke my father left me, and some that I found from my brother's room. A white-haired man who was apparently Professor Oak. "Oh, yes, Mimi! I was expecting you! Are you here for your Pokemon?" "Er...yes." I mean, what other reason do people come to Professor Oak, other than to get their starter Pokemon. "Perfect, perfect. Now, Mimi, are you a boy, or a girl?" "Girl, I guess." "Exactly! Now, what is your name, Mimi darling?" "Mimi...?" "Yes, yes, of course. Now, follow me, here." He leads me into a room, where, oh! three Pokemon are sitting down, poking each other with tails and fingers. I instantly lock eyes with the Squirtle, and I can hardly even hear what Professsor Oak is saying. "Squirtle. I choose Squirtle."
I hope it was good...

I am standing outside Professor Oak's laboratory. The lab is so giant against Pallet Town's other tiny buildings. I press my hand to the doorbell where it echoes in the whole building. Is no one in? But soon I hear a beep and the mechanical doors creep open. I step into the foyer where I am greeted by none other than Professor Oak!
"I'm here to get my first Pokemon", I say realizing how stupid this sounds because Meowth is on my shoulder. Professor Oak seems confused and than says slowly "Um... Excuse me, but are you a boy or a girl?" I crack a smile. You see, I recently got my hair cut to a boy's length and I'm only wearing a simple T-shirt and shorts set that doesn't look girlish at all. In addition, I have my shoes in my pack so I simply look like a ragamuffin.
"I'm a girl," I answer. "Your name?" the professor prompts. "Sakura" I hunt in my pack until I find my ID papers and present them to the professor. He checks them over and then eyes Meowth over the top of the papers. "And who is this?" he asks. "Just a stray Meowth," I lie." I found him on the edge of town." Professor Oak nods and says,"Well, come in."
He leads me to a room with the three pokemon. Before he can open his mouth, I say "Charmander". It takes him a second but Professor Oak starts to laugh. "Studied up, I see! Very well then, it's yours.".And I place my hand on the Pokeball. *Dun-dun-dun!* I have my very own Pokemon! Officially now! My Pokemon journey is ready to begin!

Charmander bounces around in my arms as I struggle to keep my face away from its flames. "Keep still." I hiss. Suddenly, I crash into something hard. A squirtle blows bubbles up into my face, and Charmander leaps out of my arms to fight it. I stare at its trainer, a boy with shockingly blond hair, and he sticks his chin out proudly.
"So," he says, a strange smile lighting up his face, "You want to fight me?" I sigh and lifted my head. I can't deny a challenge.
"Fine," I say, the same smile creeping onto my face. "If that's what you want." At my nod, Charmander engages the small pokemon in combat, the two slashing at each other with fiercly glinting claws. Squirtile steps back, panting hard. The boy looks at it with a hint of annoyance, and his glance slides over to me and Charmander. A quick direction to his pokemon, and it takes an aggressive stance. The morning air lights up with the combination of water and elemental energy. The bubble-shaped projections explode into mist as they reach us. Professor Oak's assistant races out the door, her long black hair frazzled.

I need a rival. I could make someone up, but I'd appreciate being a rival with another person doing the RP. Uki or Mimi, perhaps? Please consider this!

Pokemon pokemon! I am the biggest fan in the world! I pick Bulbasaur. And I'm the best in the world. You couldn't beat me if you tried so don't even think about it if you don't like to loose! I am a Pokemon master and my Bulbasaur has evolved into Ivysaur and then Venasaur!
