Music

So recently I've been obssessed with Ed Sheeran (British, red-haired, Little Lady made me feel like crying) and then, since when I'm writing I normally listen to music on YouTube, I clicked on the song Skinny Love and it was a cover by someone named Birdy. (the original song is by Bon Iver)

Well, I am now obssessed with Birdy. :D She's also red-haired (I think, either that or brown-haired or auburn) and British and SHE PLAYS THE PIANO- I like music sung with the piano.

Who're you guys obssessed with right now? (Oh yeah, I also love Danny Elfman now (('specially Corpse Bride and Edward Scissorhands scores)) and Yann Tiersen. But I've always loved him)

I am still obsessed with Linkin Park.

I am still obsessed with Muse.

I will always be obsessed with both of them.

1. Stephen Sondheim is the best thing ever to happen to musical theatre and/or music in general. Period, full stop, end of story. At the moment I'm mostly obsessing over Follies (new cast recording comes out in two weeks! EEEE SO EXCITED!!!!!) at the moment, because, well, see previous. The 2011 cast is zarking fantastic.

Still need to get my hands on copies of various revivals, Do I Hear a Waltz? Road Show, Bounce, and Saturday Night. Yeah.

Also, I have five versions of Gypsy now. Complete set FTW (although I still need the Rosalind Russel version. But not the Bette Midler version, because it was evil).

Uh.

2. Still completely obsessed with Bernadette Peters' voice. Or more accurately just Bernadette Peters in general. Because she is seriously fantastic. But you should all know this by now!

And I've met her *twice* eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

3. More recently and due to the upcoming holiday season, Carols for a Cure. Uh. Because Christmas is in two months and what's not to like? Except of course that the Follies cast ISN'T on this year's edition, which is STUPID because the Spiderman cast IS whyyyyyyyyyyyy.

4. The Addams Family Musical and The Book of Mormon and Catch Me If You Can.

5. Chameleon Circuit, for reasons that ought to be obvious to anyone who watches Doctor Who

Chameleon Circuit - oh yes. :D I think my favourite is Travelling Man, but it changes regularly.

I haven't heard much Chameleon Circuit, myself, but I personally love "An Awful Lot of Running."  Mostly because it uses the Doctor Who theme song (or whatever it is called).

@TNÖ: Almost all the sets of Gypsy?  Really?  That is just too amazing.  I've been holding back from buying any, because I cannot for the life of me decide which one to get.  This is so very difficult.

*cough2003revivalcough*

Uh.

My preferences, for what it's worth, go something like this:

1a. 2003 revival with Bernadette Peters

1b. 2008 revival with Patti Lupone

[the above will occasionally switch places depending upon whether I'm in the mood for nuance (2003) or power (2008)]

2. 1989 revival with Tyne Daly

3. 1973 OLC with Angela Lansbury

4. 1959 OBC with Ethel Merman [<- my... former... advisor was in this when he was eight. He was one of the newsboys. He was also in the tour. Do you know what that means? That means he was onstage with Ethel Merman, and met Bernadette Peters when she was thirteen:(]

5. 1962 OST with Rosalind Russell

1,000,000. The one with Bette Midler.

2,000,000. The Chris Colfer/Glee version of Some People and Rose's Turn. Seriously. Do not look them up. They are worthless even for Bile Fascination, that's how bad they are.

I mostly listen to the music that's on every other radio station (I like music that's easy to sing along to) and Disney soundtracks.  I was watching Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin the other day on ABC Family and sang my way through both of them.  Even the instrumental at some points.   :)

Oh, and I can play the Alice and Wonderland theme on my clarinet.  It's so cool. (and by Danny Elfman)
