So this quiz isn't about listening to music, it's about playing music. *pretends that I didn't create this thread to brag* So, without further ado, here's the quiz!
1. Do you play any instruments? If so, which one(s) and how many?
2. How long have you been playing? And what grade? What syllabus?
3. Do you do exams and/or competitions? If so, do you like them or not? Why?
4. What is the hardest instrument you (have/do) play?
5. What's your favourite instrument to play? In general?

And here are my answers:
1. Do you play any instruments? If so, which one(s) and how many?
Yes. I play the piano, alto sax for band (though I'm moving schools so I might not play it for Grade 7), and I played recorder (if that counts). So that's 3.
2. How long have you been playing? And what grade? What syllabus?
I played the recorder for a few years in school, sax for 1 year, and piano for [almost] six years, but I started Grade 8 in the beginning of July after my exam. And I use the Royal Conservatory of Music syllabus.
3. Do you do exams and/or competitions? If so, do you like them or not? Why?
Yes, I do both. I don't mind them much because competitions prepare me for exams and exams give me high school credits and aren't that long. They are a bit stressing though.
4. What is the hardest instrument you (have/do) play?
Alto sax.
5. What's your favourite instrument to play? In general?
My favourite instrument to play is the piano and in general, my favourite instrument is either the piano or cello.
6. Are there any composers whose pieces you absolutely love to play?
I'd say Ravel (who's my teacher's favourite composer as well) because I love his Toccata and one day dream of playing it, but I haven't played anything by him. So... Felix Mendelssohn.
7. Do you only play a certain type of music?
My teacher doesn't let me play Fur Elise and in class, I focus on the books used for RCM, but my mom also prints music she wants me to play and I try [and fail] at learning songs I like from ear.
So, that's it. Sorry, I felt like bragging about being in Grade 8. If it humbles myself, I was officially in Grade 8 only a few days ago because exam results take. So. Long. To. Be. Told. :P

A.Yea, I play electronic and acoustic guitar. I played clarinet laxt year, but I quit that. Hopefully I'm gonna start taking drum and bass soon.

A I've been playing guitar since I was 7 soo…about 5 years I guess. I learned through private lessons, not school lessons, so I'm not sure how to answer the other two. BISCUITS!
3. Do you do exams and/or competitions? If so, do you like them or not? Why?
A.Nope. Thank God. I'd fail greatly.
4. What is the hardest instrument you (have/do) play?
A. None of these questions apply to me. Sigh. Probably acoustic guitar. I have MASSIVE callouses on my fingers, but until you get those, it hurts to play.
5. What's your favourite instrument to play? In general?
A. Electric guitar. It's fun messing around with all the settings. In general…well guitar, and I'm a big vocals person. I love vocalists who can scream/growl well, as well as guys that use falsetto. Radiohead :3
6. Are there any composers whose pieces you love to play?
A. Yea, this wasn't meant for guitar. Um…I play a lot of Green Day and old school punk and metal. A lot of the music I listen to is very heavy with their use of synthesizers and electronic goodness, so I have to search to find goof songs to play.
7. Do you only play a certain type of music?
A. Nope. If I like a song, I learn how to play it. Recently, I've been having a Distillers obsession, so I've been playing a lot of their stuff. A little while ago, I was learning all these complicated riffs to Avenged Sevenfold and Whitechapel songs. It just depends.

I play the violin, and I just started playing piano. I also hope to start guitar soon.

I have been playing violin for a year and a half. Piano has been for 3 weeks. I do not take exams so I don't know what Grade or Syllabus I am on.
3. Do you do exams and/or competitions? If so, do you like them or not? Why?
No.
4. What is the hardest instrument you (have/do) play?
Defintely violin.
5. What's your favourite instrument to play? In general?
Violin to play. I don't know in general.

None.

@ Nick- Cool, do you have a band, or do you do more classical stuff?
Answers (this is a chance for me to brag, too)
1. Do you play any instruments? If so, which one(s) and how many?
5 or so, depending on how you count. I play guitar, both electric, acoustic, and classical, flute, recorder, a small amount of piano, an even SMALLER amount of clarinet, and I sing.
2. How long have you been playing? And what grade? What syllabus?
I have been playing flute for 5 or 6 years, rock guitar for one, classical guitar for 3 months, recorder for forever, vocals same thing, and i played piano for a year in 2nd grade and clarinet for 3 months in 4th. I use Rubank for flute and miscellaneous other books for the rest. I take private lessons for flute, the only one I have lessons on, so I don't know about grade.
3. Do you do exams and/or competitions? If so, do you like them or not? Why?
No, but I may be auditioning for a prestigious high school Fine Arts Academy here in Austin called Mccallum for tenth grade. (I can't believe I'm a ninth grader already. its SCARY!)
4. What is the hardest instrument you (have/do) play?
FLUTE
5. What's your favourite instrument to play? In general?
Guitar, to play. In general, guitar, sitar, and oboe.
6. Are there any composers whose pieces you love to play?
JOHN LENNON, GEORGE HARRISON, DAVID BOWIE, STING, CAT STEVENS (for rock) and Tchaikovsky, Vivaldi, Mozart, and Glenn Miller for other stuff. I like Glenn Miller on the flute, though its not as cool as a clarinet. I just figure the notes out by ear.
7. Do you only play a certain type of music?
As you can see, I play all types.

@Afton: OMG, you play flute?!?!?!?!?!?! And it sounds like you're really good! I really want to play the flute but I tried to play on some of my friends' flutes and I can't even play a single note. :(
