Bananas. I heard

Bananas. I heard a lot of talk these days about eating bananas before you perform makes the nerves go away, or something. And I'm wondering: How much more in advance should you eat the banana before show time? How does it help? Where did someone think of this? So, answers would be great. Thank you!

I normally eat a banana at the last possible moment, since food isn't normally allowed backstage, in examination rooms, or in recital halls. :P

Bananas have potassium which calms you down, so it makes you less nervous. And I asked for advice on how to have a good performance on a thread and one of the Admins replied and said that a friend of their's always eats a banana before performances. :)
