Does anyone like

Does anyone like the following shows???

I Love Lucy

I Dream of Genie
(or whatever its called, I forgot the name of the show)

The Adams Family

I love these shows!!

I think RD made a thread about I Love Lucy.

As Robyn said, the shows they make now are not funny and are just boring. And all the comedy shows are like Roast and stuff. None of them are funny. They are all inapropriate! Inapropriate is not funny! Gees!!!!

I like the oldie shows! They are genuinely funny! They're classic!

In order:

I Love Lucy: Starting fairly recently, yes. Like in the last two weeks recently, so I've seen... what... five episodes? But it's on my list of Things To Watch.

I Dream of Genie: Never seen it.

The Addams Family: Yes. Yes yes yes so much. I got into it about two months ago in sort of a weird way way (I saw that the musical had Nathan Lane and Terrance Mann and then, because I'd been meaning to watch it anyway, decided to start with the show instead of the musical, and then had an EPIC NETFLIX MARATHON and then watched the movies and then bought the music. And then found a collection of Charles Addams' cartoons at the library and read them. Obsessive personality? Me? noooo... ...The musical is brilliant by the way. It displaced Gypsy for Most Epic Overture, even). Best. Show. Ever. That is all. Except that I can't stop staring at John Astin's weirdly shaped head. (Seriously. It's distracting.)

Best things ever:

1. Happily married protagonists. It is such a refreshing change not to have the lead couple constantly at each other's throats. I mean, with the exception of the events of Cousin Itt and the Vocational Counselor, Morticia and Gomez never fought (unless one chooses to count episode eight, though that wasn't a fight so much as a horrific misunderstanding). That sort of thing doesn't seem to happen in shows today. At least not outside of parody or a deliberate attempt at Tastes Like Diabetes.

2. Thing. Just... Thing.

3. Laugh tracks that aren't annoying or even noticeable with the exception of a couple in the first episode (the "Beware of Thing" sign is not that funny, as a matter of fact).

4. Sadomasochism jokes. In 1964. More generally, the surprising amount of stuff they managed to slip past the radar, mostly between Morticia and Gomez but also occasionally Fester ("I spoke French! Bye!"). But, because the references were (usually) so oblique and subtle, they're so much funnier than the blatantly inappropriate humor used in modern comedies, because the writers were forced to be clever about it. Cleverness makes everything better.

I think it's "I dream of Jeanie". :)

I've seen some I Love Lucy, and it was really funny. I haven't seen much else though. Has anyone seen The Brady Bunch? I'd really like to, but it's not on Netflix instant download, so it'd be hard for me to get. Was it good?
