I would like to title this thread The Evil Theater Gods That Keep Me From Going to Auditions.

Why did I choose this title? Because this is the fifth time that I've missed an audition for random reasons. I am sick, with a 100 degree fever, on the last day of the auditions that Rain did so well in. Anyone else had this happen to them before? Or am I just the unlucky one?

Aw, that's too bad.  I hope you get better, Ann.  I don't do theater, so, no, it hasn't happened to me. :)

That must stink. That hasn't happened to me before. (but maybe that's just because I don't do theatre) :-)

Dear Ann,

I completely understand.  I know you feel frustrated and there's reason for that, but don't give up, just keep on trying to audition if you feel like Theatre is the path you were meant to go on.  I hope you feel better though.

My personal story of missed audition:

My local dance and musical theatre, run by a former Rockette and Rockette choreographer and Broadway singer, does yearly musicals, really and I mean really professional.  We just started doing this last year, and I wasn't in dance or musical theatre last year.  This year, I started up, and I was really praying that the musical would be one that actress Mrs. Angela Lansbury had been in, because our voice ranges are practically identical and she is so amazing! (check her out!)  (she was a broadway star in the Golden Years!)   SSSooo, getting on with my story, I was really praying hard, and so then Mrs. Renee, she's the former Rockette, announced that the play was going to be Beauty and the Beast.

Yep, Mrs. Lansbury played Mrs. Potts in the Disney version of Beauty and the Beast.  I really really really really really, etc. wanted to get that role, more than anything else in the world.  Not meaning to brag, but I knew if I auditioned for her, I would get her, not meaning to put down any of my classmates, but I've had a lot of musical and acting experience, and so I was all ready to audition, then my parents received the bomb.

We were moving.

I still auditioned, but just for practice with auditioning.  Another girl got the part.  I was crushed, I mean, totally crushed. I remember crying about it, and sometimes I still cry about it!

Because, the real bomb is that after about six months, my parents learned that we didn't have to move after all.

Actually, through God's grace, and his help, I had gotten over that before when we thought we were going to move, but we didn't sell our house or anything.

I joined back up with the musical theatre class, and I now have a part.  It's a small part, and I only appear in about two scenes, in the first song "Belle" and in the "Mob song."  I am the "Aristocratic Lady".

So, don't worry. God has a plan for you, and if you were unable to make that audition, and the others, don't worry about it, just "keep Looking Forward."

I'm sure that when the time is right, you will get a part; meanwhile, just pray that God will give you the perfect part for you.  I wish you the best in the business.
