MUSICALS!!!!! I love
MUSICALS!!!!! I love musicals; they're my absolute FAVORITE kind of movie!! I want to hear about musicals I've never heard about!!! What's your favorite? I couldn't possibly tell you mine, cause I have NOOOO idea, but I'll tell you, I love old musicals, but also ones like Mamma Mia, and Hairspray, and Enchanted. I'm not thrilled with the High School Musicals, but must admit the third was better than I thought it would be.

I love musicals.
First and foremost (all together now) Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (both the original Sondheim and the Burton version)
Also Wicked (about equal with Sweeney) and Les Miserables, and Spamalot, and Phantom of the Opera, and Rent... *grin*

Ok, so I love The Phantom Of The Opera, one of my favorites, though I hope you don't mean the old one, because I haven't seen that yet. I haven't seen the musical version of Les Miserables, though I've been dying to!!! I can't find it ANYWHERE!!!!!!! Tim Burton gives me the creeps!! I just watched a preview of his latest film, which of course makes me curious, so even if I don't want to see it, I'm dying to know what it's like... (I think it's called 9.) I can't see Wicked, though I want to very much. And I don't know what Spamalot is. Rent the film, or Broadway???? I (obviously, if you look at what I wrote about Wicked in a previous post) haven't seen the Broadway one, so I don't know which is better. :)

Spamalot is the musical version of Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
I have unfortunately never seen Les Mis live... But I have a VHS of the 10th anniversary concert! And it's brilliant...
The old Phantom was strange.
I absolutely love Tim Burton... *crazed grin* Best director ever. And 9 looks really interesting if nothing else... So I will be seeing it if it actually comes to our dilapidated little 2-screen cinema. Yay free movie perks! *mwah ha, and that*
Rent, both the movie and the Broadway version.

*Todd. Two D's. ;)
Of course Sweeney is rated R for graphic bloody violence, so if your parents aren't into that you won't be seeing it for some time.
The blood looks just exactly like ketchup. And there's TOO MUCH like at the end there's like GALLONS of it all over the floor, enough for like FIVE people, when in reality it's just one. Oh and it spurts out whenever he (Sweeney) slits peoples throats. Accompanied by a full orchestra, of course, and him singing. Surprisingly he has a really good voice. As do all of them, even Timothy Spall, which surprised me most of all. Oh, and Alan Rickman has an absolutely amazing voice. *drools*
I also hate people who love the Burton one but hate Angela Lansbury or who love AL and hate the Burton version. It makes me sad. Angela was - and is - absolutely BRILLIANT as Mrs. Lovett. So was Helena. The original Sondheim was a COMEDY! Burton made it a more serious, horror-esque piece. That doesn't mean he "emo-fied" it, just made it a little gothier and traditional Burton. AND SONDHEIM LIKED THE MOVIE AND APPROVED OR SUGGESTED ALL THE MUSIC EDITS!!!! WHY DO PEOPLE NOT UNDERSTAND THIS?!
And it REALLY makes me mad when people bash Helena and say she only got the part because of her relationship with Burton... No. SONDHEIM HAD COMPLETE CASTING APPROVAL FOR THE PART! Its EASILY the most complicated part in the musical, and I highly doubt he would have given the part to someone without careful consideration, and she CAN sing! And no, she probably wasn't the best voice. She only had three months of musical training, duh, she's not going to be the best voice.
Neither was Angela! *froths at mouth*
I'm done now, promise.
