I GOT INTO

I GOT INTO CHOIR!!!!!!! I'm so happy! When I auditioned, I was so scared, I was shaking! I messed up once, but the guy was really nice. He said I was good at the hard things. It felt so great! Now I get to sing once a week, a giant folder of music, and an awesome uniform. I feel great right now.

Does anyone have tips on singing or choir? This is my first time.

Congrats!!  That's so awesome!!  I hope you have a great time singing in choir!

I was in a chorus for only two years, so I don't know much about it, but I think the main thing is to have a good attitude, even if you just can't reach the high notes, and pay attention to what the director says.  Have fun!

Wow! That sounds so fun! My best advice is make sure you warm up before you sing, and drink lots of water.

Congratulations! That's wonderful! I'm sure you'll enjoy it; choir's really fun! I've just about always been in some sort of choir since I was 6 (except for the occasional summer, as some of these choirs were only for the school year, including the one I'm in now), and I love it! The choirs I've been in were all ones that everyone could get into without auditioning, though, except for one in 5th grade which was an honor choir. I'm going to try out for another in a few months (I don't know how many), so we'll see how that goes.

I'm trying to think of advice, but I'm not coming up with anything. Sorry about that... I hope you enjoy chorus as much as I do!

Advice from my years and years of choir (and orchestra):

Keep your eye on the conductor and stop right away when he/she stops conducting. If everyone does this, you'll avoid wasting precious rehearsal time.

If you can't hear your neighbor sining,  you're singing too loud.

Keep your knees bent slightly when you're on risers on stage.

On Admin's 2nd piece of advice: Unless your neighbor isn't singing loudly enough. That happens in my choir often; they get nervous and sing so quietly you can't hear them even if you stop singing altogether.

Yes, that's a reasonable exception to that rule!
