Alto saxophone. I
Alto saxophone. I was just wondering if anyone here in the CB plays it and if they could give me a few tips. (I'm starting it for band) I already chipped one of my reeds (my good one) so now I have to use my bad one. For the bad one, the notes come out differently (and don't sound proper) And if anyone could give me some breathing techniques, that would be appreciated.
You know what else? Right now I'm listening to a a few Concertos for the Alto Sax on itunes. (sadly, it's the shop, so I can't listen to them completely) They're really cool. (I do RCM for piano now, so I might not play jazz on my alto, which sounds weird, but it's true) Laterz!

We have 2 alto saxes in our class band. There used to be 4, and 2 of the girls were always breaking/losing their reeds. Then it took us forever to get started......................
Has that ever happened to any other Chatterboxes??????

We haven't started band yet, but there are two alto saxes in our band. (unless newbies come and take up the alto) I think my reeds are annoying.

I don't play an alto sax, but I do play a teneo, and with the reed thing, I suggest getting a reed case that can hold four reeds. The only way to not chip them is to be very careful. I also have played a clarinet for 3 years, so I've tried the multiple reed case on it and it worked pretty well. I don't know much about breathing on altos, but for tenor my teacher always says to use warm air and fill the horn completely. What strength reed are you using? Laterz!

Isabel B-B: I'm not sure what type of reed I use, I'll tell you when I feel like going upstairs. :-P Is the tenor sax hard to play? (the alto's smaller) I was thinking of choosing it, but I didn't want to have to lug a big case onto my bus twice a week. (I've never actually carried one though, *blushes*) Are you new here to the CB?
