Chatterbox: Pudding's Place

Song Lyrics, take

Song Lyrics, take three: Because I am too lazy to try to resurrect the old one. So sue me.

Basically self explanatory, I would imagine. You post lyrics... to songs... Mainly I use these threads to (try) to rid myself of Ear Worms.

You're so nice...
You're not good,
You're not bad,
You're just nice.
I'm not good,
I'm not nice,
I'm just right.
I'm the Witch.
You're the world.

I'm the hitch.
I'm what no one believes,
I'm the Witch.
You're all liars and theives,
Like his father,
Like his son will be, too--
Oh, why bother?
You'll just do what you do.

It's the last midnight,
So, goodbye all.
Coming at you fast, midight-
Soon you'll see the sky fall.

If what you need is a different sky
find some water where it should be dry
jump through the surface and soon you'll see
a different world is where you'll be

If what you need is a different sky
find some water where it should be dry
jump through the surface and soon you'll see
another world

Where there's been no rain
Where there's been no rain
Where there's been no rain

Where there's been no rain
a puddle that seems
out of place.....

Where there's been no rain
a puddle that seems
out of place.....

This is no ordinary water
do not be fooled

This is no ordinary water
do not be fooled

Jump through

This is a portal
not a pool
this is a passage to other worlds

This is no ordinary water
do not be fooled

This is no ordinary water
do not be fooled

This is no ordinary water
do not be fooled

Another world

Where there's been no rain
a puddle that seems
out of place…

Jump through

Sorry for a third LGW song, especially one that isn't quite as relevant to the rest of the world as the previous ones (unless you're going kayaking, in which case it's very relevant), but it's been stuck in my head for the longest time... Also, I may have gotten the places where lines begin and end wrong, as I'm not looking at the website or anything. Anyway, skipping the laughter-sounding bits:

Thru the looking glass, Miss Alice, glide.

Into the backwards house arrive,

Into the garden, where the flowers speak,

And the path twists ad turns,

Under your feet,

And if you want to get

Where you want to go,

You have to run the other way, you know,

And if you want to get

Where you want to go,

You have to run the other way, you know.

Run faster,  Alice.

The wind in your hair...

Run faster, Alice;

You haven't gone anywhere,

And if you want to get

Where you want to go,

You have to run the other way, you know,

And if you want to get

Where you want to go,

You have to run the other way, you know.

Just Around the River Bend lyrics:

What I love most about rivers is

You can't step in the same river twice

The water's always changing

Always flowing

But people I guess can't live like that

We all must pay a price

To be safe we lose our chance of ever knowing

What's just around the river bend

Just around the river bend

I look once more

Just around the river bend

Beyond the shore

Where the gulls fly free

Don't know what for

What I dream the day might send

Just around the river bend

For me...

Coming for me

I feel it there behind those trees

And right behind these waterfalls

Can I ignore that sound of distant drumming?

For a handsome sturdy husband

Who builds handsome sturdy walls

And never dreams that something might be coming

Just around the river bend

Just around the river bend

I look once more

Just around the river bend

Beyond the shore

Somewhere past the sea

Don't know what for

Why do all my dreams extend?

Just around the river bend...

Should I choose the smoothest course?

Steady as the beating drum?

Should I marry Kocoum?

Is all my dreaming at an end?

Or do you still wait for me, Dream Giver?

Just around the river bend...

And When I See An Elephant Fly lyrics:

I saw a peanut stand

Heard a rubber band

I seen a needle that winked its eye

But I be done seen 'bout everything

When I see an elephant fly

I seen a front porch swing

Heard a diamond ring

I seen a polka-dot railroad tie

But I be done seen 'bout everything

When I see an elephant fly

I saw a clothes-horse ra'r up and buck

And they tell me that a man made a vegetable truck

I didn't see that

I only heard

But just to be sociable

I'll take your word

I heard a fireside chat

I saw a baseball bat

And I just laughed till I thought I'd die

But I be done seen 'bout everything

When I see an elephant fly

But I be done seen 'bout everything

When I see an elephant fly-yyyyy...

When I see an elephant fly!

*cue hysterical laughter*

You'll be swell! You'll be great!

Gonna have the whole world on a plate!

Starting here, starting now

Honey, everything's coming up roses!

Clear the decks! Clear the tracks!

You've got nothing to do but relax!

Blow a kiss, take a bow

Honey, everything's coming up roses!

Now's your inning! Stand the world on its ear!

Set it spinning! That's just the beginning!

Curtain up! Light the lights!

You've got nothing to hit but the heights!

You'll be swell, you'll be great!

I can tell, just you wait!

The lucky star I talk about is you!

Honey, everything's coming up roses for me and for you!

You can do it, all you need is a hand!

We can do it! Momma is gonna see to it!

Curtain up! Light the lights!

We've got nothing to hit but the heights!

There's the bell! Follow me!

And nothing's gonna stop us till we're through!

Honey, everything's coming up roses and daffodils,

Everything's coming up sunshine and Santa Claus,

Everything's gonna be bright lights and lollipops,

Everything's coming up roses for me and for you!

OMG! I don't know if this thread has died, but I have some lyrics that I made up that are now stuck in my head!

I walk in the room

o-a-o

you're sittin' there

o-a-o

I can feel the tide is changin' 'cause you're lookin' at me--!

You're the only one I see tonight, 'cause you're the only one I want to,

be with, or sit near, is that a little weird?

I'll repeat it, is that, a little, weird?

It's a Friday night, you're walkin' through the crowd toward me sayin' '"Hey, what's up?" to everyone you see!

When you reach me, you ask me, what are ya doin' tonight?

I look at you-- and I say, nothin' with you!

Suddenly my heart breaks to picees.

((Any ideas on how to improve, or finish maybe???))

Little girls, little girls

Every where I turn I can see them

Little girls, little girls

Night and day I eat, sleep, and breathe 'em

I'm an ordinary woman

With feelings

I'd like a man to nibble on my ear

But I'll admit- no man has bit

So how come I'm the mother of the year?

How I hate little shoes

Little socks and each little bloomer

I'd have cracked years ago

If it weren't for my sense of humor

Some women are dripping with diamonds

Some women are dripping with pearls

Lucky me, lucky me, look at what I'm dripping with

Little girls!

Little cheeks, little teeth

Everything around me is little

If I wring little necks

Surely I would get an aquittal

Some day I'll step on their freckles

Some night I'll straighten their curls

Send a flood, send the flu, anything that you can do to

Little girls!

Someday I'll land in the nuthouse

With all the nuts and the squirrels

There I'll stay, tucked away

Till the prohibition of

Little girls!

I know that song! And I like it too. ;)

So...song...songsongsong...ummm...OOOOOH!

"On My Own" from Les Miserables

On my own,

Pretending he's beside me.

All alone,

I walk with him till morning.

Without him,

I feel his arms around me,

And when I lose my way

I close my eyes

And he has found me.

In the rain,

The pavement shines like silver.

All the lights

Are misty in the river.

In the darkness,

The trees are full of starlight,

And all I see

Is him and me

Forever and forever.

And I know

It's only in my mind,

That I'm talking to myself and

Not to him.

And although

I know

That he is blind,

Still I say,

There's a way

For us.

I love him,

But when the night is over,

He is gone,

The river's just a river.

Without him,

The world around me changes,

The trees are bare

And everywhere

The streets are full of strangers.

I love him,

But every day I'm learning,

All my life,

I've only been pretending.

Without me,

His world will go on turning,

The world is full

Of happiness

That I have never

Known...

I love him,

I love him,

I love him,

But only on my own...

Sad, sad, sad, sad song, but soooo pretty. I'm doing it for voice lessons. :D

Well, either you're closing your eyes
To a situation you do now wish to acknowledge
Or you are not aware of the caliber of disaster indicated
By the presence of a pool table in your community.
Well, ya got trouble, my friend, right here,
I say, trouble right here in River City.
Why sure I'm a billiard player,
Certainly mighty proud to say
I'm always mighty proud to say it.
I consider that the hours I spend
With a cue in my hand are golden.
Help you cultivate horse sense
And a cool head and a keen eye.
Ever take and try to give
An iron-clad leave to yourself
From a three-rail billiard shot?
But just as I say,
It takes judgment, brains, and maturity to score
In a balkline game,
I say that any boob can take
And shove a ball in a pocket.
And I call that sloth--
The first big step on the road
To the depths of degrada--
I say, first, medicinal wine from a teaspoon,
Then beer from a bottle.
And the next thing ya know,
Your son is playing for money
In a pinch-back suit.
And list'ning to some big out-a-town jasper
Hearing him tell about horse-race gambling.
Not a wholesome trottin' race, no!
But a race where they set down right on the horse!
Like to see some stuck-up jockey'boy
Sitting on Dan Patch? Make your blood boil?
Well, I should say.
Friends, lemme tell you what I mean.
Ya got one, two, three, four, five, six pockets in a table.
Pockets that mark the diff'rence
Between a gentlemen and a bum,
With a capital "B,"
And that rhymes with "P" and that stands for pool!

And all week long your River City
Youth'll be frittern away,
I say your young men'll be frittern!
Frittern away their noontime, suppertime, choretime too!
Get the ball in the pocket,
Never mind gittin' Dandelions pulled
Or the screen door patched or the beefsteak pounded.
Never mind pumpin' any water
'Til your parents are caught with the Cistern empty
On a Saturday night and that's trouble,
Oh, yes we got lots and lots a' trouble.
I'm thinkin' of the kids in the knickerbockers,
Shirt-tail young ones, peekin' in the pool
Hall window after school, look, folks!
Right here in River City.
Trouble with a capital "T"
And that rhymes with "P" and that stands for pool!
Now, I know all you folks are the right kinda parents.
I'm gonna be perfectly frank.
Would ya like to know what kinda conversation goes
On while they're loafin' around that Hall?
They're tryin' out Bevo, tryin' out cubebs,
Tryin' out Tailor Mades like Cigarette Feends!
And braggin' all about
How they're gonna cover up a tell-tale breath with Sen-Sen.
One fine night, they leave the pool hall,
Headin' for the dance at the Arm'ry!
Libertine men and Scarlet women!
And Rag-time, shameless music
That'll grab your son and your daughter
With the arms of a jungle animal instink!
Mass-staria!
Friends, the idle brain is the devil's playground!

"Trouble" from The Music Man by Meredith Wilson

And, of course, the one and only...

"God Help The Outcasts" from The Hunchback of Notre Dame!

I don't know if You can hear me,

Or if You're even there,

I don't know if You would listen

To a humble prayer.

They tell me I am just an outcast,

I shouldn't speak to You.

Still I see Your face and wonder,

Were You once an outcast too?

God help the outcasts,

Hungry from birth,

Show them the mercy

They don't find on earth.

The lost and forgotten,

They look to you still,

God help the outcasts,

Or nobody will.

I ask for nothing,

I can get by,

But I know so many

Less lucky than I.

God help the outcasts,

The poor and downtrod,

I thought we all were

The children of God.

I don't know if there's a reason

Why some are blessed,

Some not.

Why the few You seem to favor...

They fear us,

Flee us,

Try not to see us.

God help the outcasts,

The tattered,

The torn.

Seeking an answer

To why they were born.

Winds of misfortune

Have blown them about.

You made the outcasts,

Don't cast them out.

The poor and unlucky,

The weak and the odd.

I thought we all were

The children of God.

The version in the movie is quite a bit different-this is the version I'm doing for voice lessons. I think they're both equally pretty. :)

Oh, how lovely! I've never heard that before.

And here's one I like: Smell the Colour Nine.

I would take no for an answer,
Just to know I heard You speak,
And I'm wondering why I've never,
Seen the signs they claim they see,
A lotta special revelations,
Meant for everybody but me,
Maybe I don't truly know You,
or maybe I just simply believe...

Chorus: Cause I can sniff, I can see, and I can
count up pretty high; but these faculties
aren't getting me any closer to the sky,
but my heart of faith keeps poundin' so
I know I'm doin' fine but sometimes findin'
You is just like tryin to smell the colour nine.
Smell the colour nine...

Now I've never felt the presence,
But I know You're always near,
And I've never heard the calling,
But somehow You've led me right here,
So I'm not lookin' for burnin' bushes,
Or some Divine graffiti to appear,
I'm just beggin You for Your wisdom,
And I believe You're puttin' some here...

Chorus

Chorus (repeat)

Nine's not a colour...
and if even if it were you can't smell a colour, no
that's my point exactly.

The sun comes up,
I think about you.
The coffee cup,
I think about you.
I want you so,
It's like I'm losing my mind.

The morning ends,

I think about you.
I talk to friends,
I think about you.
And do they know?
It's like I'm losing my mind.

All afternoon,

Doing every little chore,
The thought of you stays bright.
Sometimes I stand
In the middle of the floor,
Not going left,
Not going right.
I dim the lights
And think about you,
Spend sleepless nights
To think about you.
You said you loved me,
Or were you just being kind?

Or am I losing my mind?

I want you so,

It's like I'm losing my mind.
Does no one know?
It's like I'm losing my mind.
All afternoon,
Doing every little chore,
The thought of you stays bright.

Sometimes I stand

In the middle of the floor,
Not going left,
Not going right.
