Soo, I just saw Mary Poppins ((WOOHOO MARY POPPINS HOORAY!)) the national tour. IT IS AMAZING.
The set was so cool it was like this foldout thingy with the house and it unfolded onstage and then the roof came down and it had like little flappy thingies like a popup book! Woo! The lights were amazing too, all dramatic and whatnot without being stupid and flashy! And we were up up at like the top of the balcony so even though we couldn't see faces or whatever we could see all the geeky effecty thingies and it was SO COOL Disney has an amazing squad of super amazing techies, whatever other flaws they may have as a whole!
And the costumes! They were gorgeous! And colourful! And sparkly at the end!
AND AT THE END WHEN SHE FLEW!!!!
IT WAS AMAZING!!!
ALL THE MAGIC EFFECTS WERE BRILLIANT! LIKE WITH THE PULLING-THINGS-OUT-OF-THE-TARDIS-ER, CARPETBAG-TRICK! BRILLIANT!
SQUUUUEEEEEEEEE!!!!!
Oh, and we have definitive proof that Mary Poppins Is A Time Lady:
Michael: Will we ever go to space?
Mary Poppins: *smiles* Not for a very long time.
MWAH HA HA HAHAHAHA!
Oh and Ms. Andrews is scary. But I love when Mary Poppins makes her chug the Brimstone and Treacle bottle. (That's sulfur mixed with molasses, for those who don't know).
AAAAH!
AND THEY HAD ROBERTSON AY! I LOVE HIM!
My only complaint was that we had an understudy (who was admittedly brilliant) for Bert. :( I wanted Gavin Lee! He has such an awesome voice! But the understudy had a quite wonderful voice and was a very good actor! Just not enough of the wonky accent. OH! And during the Chim Chim Cher-ee scene I think he almost fell off the roof but I'm not sure because if it was an accident he recovered very well and it was quite in character! Yay for not breaking character!
Me excited no not at all!!!

Um . . . Time Lady?
(March 8, 2010 - 5:51 pm)
@ ZNZ: You're not the only one. :)
@ TNO (umlaut): I'm glad you enjoyed it. Was the storyline more or less the same as the movie, I guess?
(March 8, 2010 - 7:15 pm)
Sounds awesome! I wish I could see it, but my family is not much for theater.
And ditto... Time Lady?
(March 8, 2010 - 7:30 pm)
You know... like, Doctor Who. Time Lord. Time Lady. *nodnod*
(March 8, 2010 - 10:33 pm)
*has confused look on face* *shakes head* I will never understand.
(March 9, 2010 - 4:42 pm)
Wait... Time Lady? Anyone care to explain this TNO language to me, even though I still probably won't understand it?
(March 10, 2010 - 8:20 pm)
*sigh*
The Time Lords are a race of time-traveling aliens who fly around the universe in TARDISes doing... stuff.
From Doctor Who.
Yeah?
And no, I don't care that Mary Poppins predates Doctor Who. She's still a Time Lady, and the carpet bag and umbrella are the two halves of her TARDIS.
It makes *sense*.
(March 11, 2010 - 8:02 pm)
TNO...I don't know whose logic you're following when you say something makes sense, but it's not anybody else's. *shrugs* However, my little brother, NDT, uses a peculiar brand of logic as well, usually applied to math.
Andy P. C. says uvae. I think he's trying to say "Ole!" ANDY! You are not bullfighting! It is too dangerous! You stay here as an anti-spam security guard! Perhaps your job is too boring...

I imdb'd Doctor Who and Time Lords, and I understand now.
I also allmusical'd Mary Poppins. I didn't realize Winifred and George Banks were such complex characters.
(March 12, 2010 - 9:19 pm)
Wow, Admin proofread a lot... with italics and such... But allmusical'd is actually one word. It's a site, like imdb. :)
Spamboy says gnwu... Isn't that an animal?
Oops! Sorry, Mary. I didn't know that. I just fixed it back to one word.
(March 13, 2010 - 6:48 pm)
Wow. You wrote this on my 13th birthday! You really do obsess over old movies, don't you? And Broadway performances. ;-) JK, that's quite alright.
(March 15, 2010 - 1:02 pm)
Oh, yeah, happy birthday. :)
And what is wrong with old movies, I ask you? Or Broadway performances?
A lot of modern movies rely on special effects and whatnot. Old movies had to rely on good plots, snappy dialogue, and good acting. As do Broadway productions, though some do focus more on fancy lights and tech effects than they ought to. (Wicked, Disney, I am looking at you. Yes, I love you, but the point is valid nonetheless.)
There is absolutely, positively, most definitely nothing wrong with old movies or Broadway performances. And never let anyone convince you otherwise!
