Finally the first two episodes of Season 3 are out! I mentioned this TV series on Random Thoughts/Things a few months ago, and saw that lots of CBers have been watching it, so I thought it would be fun to have a thread about it now that Season 3 has begun.
Who's your favorite character? Do you think James is going to enlist in WWII? Is Tristan really going to fall in love and *gasp* get married? (He was the one who caught Helen's wedding bouquet at the end of Episode 1, which seems like a Definite Sign.)
(If you haven't watched the series, it's a super funny, entertaining one about a Yorkshire vet in about 1940 and his eccentric employer, as well as having a whole host of other endearing and interesting characters.)

James will totally enlist. Iif you have read the book it is based on, he does enlist in it (we think! We haven't read it but our friends have!). And Tris is definetely getting married. Our friends who read the book didn't spoil that for us, but we think catching the wedding bouquet was indeed a Definite Sign. Plus, there is nothing more romantic than performing a tracheostomy on a dog with somebody.

I like Tristan best for sure. I think he was funnier in the earlier seasons though....and I think that Tristan and Siegfried are funny together too Lucy C since they do NOT get along very well. In the books I think James joins the RAF or whatever it is called...I'm reading the books again. I read them a while ago and don't really remember anything. I think Tristan is getting married for sure. He caught Helen's bouquet and has been hanging around with that Florence girl. I'm waiting for episode 6 to come out on Sunday.

Florence is the best! I may be biased because she is one of the few Brown women on the show but she is amazing! I'm glad that the show actually addressed (very mildly, but it's better than nothing) the racism she experiences living in England in the '40s, because sometimes shows try to throw in Brown characters for diversity points but then pretend racism doesn't exist.
Aside from that, she's so smart & capable (and honestly possibly too good for Tristan...I mean I love the guy but he's a bit shallow at times) and I really hope she gets more character development. :D

Yeah, I agree about Tristan :)
I like how Florence is supposed to be unafraid to be herself, and unafraid to follow her own path... I just wish that the people directing the show hadn't decided that being yourself and being different is best symbolized by having a different skin color, because I mean, skin color doesn't change your identity!!!!! But then, she's from a different culture too, so I guess that could count as being different. I think she could do with being slightly less... brusque? but that's just me. Overall she's a very good character, and probably destined to marry Tristan in the end, because their romance is starting to look much more serious than Tristan's earlier relationship with Maggie. I'm glad Tristan is finally trying to be steady and serious.
And speaking of the romances in the series, I wish they'd bring back Dorothy. She was perfect for Siegfried. But there doesn't seem to be any sign of her.
As for James and Helen, I really like how the series goes beyond the classic, idyllic romance and shows how the two of them support and love each other once they're married. Movies and TV series always show romances, but they don't often explore what happens after the Triumphal Marriage, and I think this one handles it really well. :)

Help it's already the last episode! I haven't watched it yet - I'm saving it for a while, but I'm absolutely sure that Tristan is going to go and enlist, and maybe James too. It's rather sad :(
