"I've had enough!" Trista's mother cried, throwing her door open. "You're so lucky I got this letter this morning. It says that it provides an alternative schooling option, but you'll have to go to Mara Island this time. Pack your stuff, you'd better be gone by tomorrow." She glared, tossing the slip of paper at the teen.
Trista looked up with slight shrug when the door slammed shut again and stetched, looking out her window. It was grey and cloudy, like a storm was brewing. Great.
She picked up the envelope with the letter inside and delicately removed it, squinted at the crumpled page.
Dear guardian,
We have heard of the troublesome circumstances the child under your care is in. Fortunately, we offer a solution! Here on Mara Island, a new school with be opening with a brand new certified curriculum, endorsed by the Intergalactic Prime Minister, of course. It will have all top-end educational benefits, at absolutely no cost to yourself.
Consider yourself and the child under your care as one of the lucky 20 participants invited to take part in the making of history under this novel program! The single ship will leave at ××:×× on ×× of ××, year ×××× -
That was tomorrow! Trista raised her eyebrows.

Trista frowned, something about this whole deal was kinda fishy. But she shrugged. She didn't have much of a choice, but she wouldn't make life easy for these sus officials... Is what she thought as she tried to cram the letter back into the Envelope. Something was keeping it from going all the way back in.
Her eyes widened when she pulled out the other note. Made of a much thicker, stiffer type of paper, the text on the card read:
"Ten naughty kids, playing in the mine; One fell off a great big ledge, and then there were nine
Nine naughty kids, tried to mess with fate; Scissors clipped bit too deep, and then there were eight
Eight naughty kids, praying up to heaven; One forgot to say amen, and then there were seven

Six naughty kids, eyeing up a knive; They weren't watching close enough and then there were five

Three naughty kids, aboard without a crew; One slipped and hit their head, and then there were two
Two naughty kids, too scared to have some fun; One fell prey to their own mind, and the there was one

What... Did all of this mean? Trista's brows furrowed hard in thought.

In otherwords, Acumen is sometimes difficult to comprehend and is often tight-lipped about himself.
