Chatterbox: Pudding's Place
Myristica Glade~
Myristica Glade~
It’s late when you get home from school. You had a test today, and while you studied very hard, all the information seemed to have vanished from your mind. You took the long way back, dreading facing your parents/guardians after your poor performance on your test. However, the house is quiet. They must still be at work.
You walk up the staircase, the steps creaking under your weight. Once inside your room, you sit down at your desk and click on your writing lamp. It casts a warm glow over the light brown wood of the desk. You select a pencil with a sharp tip and crack open your notebook, prepared to write.
But a letter falls out of your notebook instead, landing on your lap. You pick it up, admiring the crisp ivory-colored envelope, the delicate black ink looping out your name, and the precision in which the envelope was sealed. You carefully slit the top with a silver envelope opener and read the letter inside.
Dear the Chatterboxer holding this,
Yes, we know you’re a Chatterboxer. But is that relevant right now? We think not.
The reason you’re receiving this letter so unexpectedly is because you are being invited, along with a dozen or so others, to Myristica Glade for a free* vacation of fun, adventure, excitement, and, quite possibly, danger. Up to three of your companions, be they AEs or CAPTCHAs, are welcome to come. You and your companions will share one of our small cabins, however if you come alone you will occupy a room in the main lodge. Fill out the attached forms for you and your desired companions. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and spots are limited. We will send a notice when spots are closed.
Your hosts,
Ms. Luna-Rae Storme & Mx. Hawthorne Storme

Yes, this is a ski lodge. My second in fact, though the first one was sadly left unfinished. Hopefully this one will be different. Feel free to guess who I am!

Day 1 - Afternoon
After a filling lunch, the tour proceeded. The guests were shown a large library, outdoor gardens, a room stocked with board games, a greenhouse, an art room, the balconies overlooking the forest and lake, and many other places.
"Now, you all have three hours to unpack and socialize and whatever kids these days do," Luna-Rae instructed. "I expect you all to return back here in the common room at 6:30. Got it?"
There was a chorus of "yes"es and many head nods, before the guests scurried out of the common room.
Pangolin, Lucky Star, Silver Crystal, WordSong, and Phantasmagoria decided to stay in the lodge and check out the library, while the others went outside. Lore, Cobalt, Spontaneity, Tempo, Lynx, Firefly, and Ava started a game of hide-and-seek tag. Gallium sat on her porch reading her book, while Loki ran around her feet. A few cabins over, Corrigenda and Violet were trying to solve a puzzle that involved removing a certain number of sticks from a figure in order to make a certain number of squares. checked out the gardens and greenhouse. Pancake, Virid, Tsuki, Kitty Cat, Shining Star, Archie, Forest Nymph, and Forest explored the outdoor gardens and greenhouses.
The sun was high and the day was warm, and the guests were beginning to get comfortable. Laughter and shouts rose from the glade, signs of the CBers', AEs', and CAPTCHAs' joy.
Lucky Star, WordSong, and Silver Crystal were reading in the library's squishy armchairs, while pangolin and Phantasmagoria browsed the wide shelves, still searching for a book to read.
Lynx was "it", and was hunting for the rest of the AEs, who tried to stay silent in their hiding spots, but were trying not to giggle. Lynx quickly found Neity, who had scampered up a tree and was sitting in one of the lower branches. And then, since it was hide-and-seek tag, Spontaneity ran down from the tree and across the glade, Lynx right behind her.
Gallium finished a chapter in her book with great satisfaction, and Loki took this as an opportunity to beg for a salmon bite. "Plese?" he pleaded, his green eyes looked so mournful, Gallium had to hand him a treat.
Violet and Corrigenda managed to solve the puzzle they were working on, so Corrie flipped through her book of logic problems for another one to work on.
The others were exploring. Virid bounded through the garden, enthusiastic at all the different plants and flowers. Pancake, Forest Nymph, Forest, Archie, Kitty Cat, and Tsuki walked around, admiring all the flora. Shining Star discovered a large outdoor fountain and sat on the rim of it, enjoying the cool misty spray.
But then, someone had to go and ruin it. It was not their intent, of course, but the doing of some...higher power, shall we say, with a misleadingly sweet name.
Anyway, this particular guest happened to wander into the woods, looking for some peace and quiet. Their footsteps were quiet against the moss- and pine-needle covered ground. Birds chirped overhead, and an unseen stream burbled. Brushing aside some foliage, the guest smiled. Now this was a vacation. They bent down to examine a large, feathery fern, and stopped, as a prickling sensation grew on the back of their neck.
The guest whirled around and came face-to-face with a girl in her early tweens. Her skin was pale, and her dark brown hair was twisted into an elaborate braided bun, and her eyes were like puddles of melted chocolate. She was dressed in a simple white blouse, black denim shorts, and simple flats.
The guest was about to scream in surprise, but the girl slapped a hand over their mouth. They flinched away from her surprisingly cold, hard grasp.
"Shush," the girl ordered.
The guest nodded obediently, stunned. "Who are you?" they whispered.
"Not that you need to know, but my name is Anise," the girl replied.
"I don't remember seeing you with the rest of the guests."
"Well, no, of course not," said Anise. "I've been here in this forest for a long time."
"How long?" asked the guest.
"It doesn't matter," Anise snapped. "But you're going to help me get out of here."
"Wha-"
But the guest's mind was starting to get fuzzy. The edges of their vision clouded, and thoughts rushed through their head. Thoughts that were not their own. They grabbed their throbbing head, sinking to the forest floor in their pain. Suddenly, it stopped. Abruptly. Just like that. Their eyes were cold, and their face hard, expressionless.
Anise smiled. "Now, do you know what you have to do?"
The murderer said in a cold, cruel voice, "Yes."

OooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
I wonder who.... I doubt it's anyone who was indoors... but... I think all of them were outdoors at least one point in the day. I wonder what Luna-Rae and Storm had to do with this...
