I was digging through Pudding's Place when I found Rose bud's "Writing/Art Contest!" and thought it was a really good idea! So, I'm gonna make one.

Here's how it works:
1. sign up as either an artist or an author.
2. on the 10th (or possibly sooner, whatever) I will assign each CBer a partner. There will be one author and one artist in each group.
3. There will be groups of two rounds. The groups will be judged on both partners' abilities. In the first semi-round, the author will post a short story. (Try to keep the stories under 1000 words) Then, the artist will draw a picture from the story. For the second semi-round, the partners will switch, with the artist posting a picture first, and the author writing a story for the picture.
Rules:
You can request other CBers as your partner.
We won't start until we have perfect two-person teams.
I will periodically post lists of all the authors, artists, and requested teams that we have.
Well, that's it! I'll post anything I've forgotten later, and make sure to ask me if you have any questions.

Is there anything I should change with this sketch? If not, I'll get to coloring it.
Also, I had sort of an idea that this person on the side of the boat is dying, therefore the big stain on the sail would be blood, and his last request was to die at sea, so thats what is going on here? If you don't want to write something like that, its fine, but that was the motivation behind the drawing! :)

I haven't started yet, unfortunately. I had after-spring-break shock this week XD and so was drowning in school work. I've worked through most of it though and have one more assignment, but then I'mma get started :D
Also, that picture is beautiful. The way the colors are just a little faded, the way the shapes contrast each other- the stain on the sail to the hard rigid waves and sunlight, for one- and the way the boat is being tossed about and the person is dying for gosh's sake, but there's still such a strange sort of peacefulness to it. It's amazing. I'll try to do it justice with my story :)

Here is the sketch! I'm about to start inking. Urgh, I won't be able to use wash to shade since I spilled my India ink . . . Ah well. I started drawing one but decided it was pretty boring so I started this one! It was really fun to design the objects in the back. I should do that more.

That's so cool! I'm already getting some inspiration, but I'll wait to start writing until you've finished inking and if you feel like it coloring, unless you want me to try to start writing now.

Also, just a question. Do you have a preference on if the main character's a girl or a boy? I know the drawing has short hair, but I didn't know if you wanted it to be a boy or just a girl with short hair. Also I may or may not have already started writing down ideas sorry!

Ehehe it's alright to write down ideas. ;) I recently started the shading.
Honestly the gender of the person is really your choice. To me, that seems like a very minor detail. I might have been vaguely referring to the character as male in my head but no, I do not have a preference, it's your choice so do what you want there. If you have any other questions (i.e. about what things are) I can try to help but really these final decisions are yours.
