You groan. Entire pages filled with these problems swim in front of your eyes, and you aren't even halfway done. Math, math, and more math. . .
Outside the window you can see the sun shining. It's so warm for October, and you want to be outside, but the math is in the way like a gigantic wall. You try to concentrate, but there's a warm breeze blowing through the window and eventually you find yourself gazing out the window, math abandoned on the table. It's so nice and peaceful. . .
Crash! Bang!
Something comes flying through your window, smashes into your face, and knocks all the papers off your desk. You rub your aching nose and look around. You just knew your little brother shouldn't have been trusted to play baseball. But upon closer inspection, there is no baseball. You look around, confused, and then hear a small chirp from your bed.
You gape. Sitting on your bed is a winged monkey. But it isn't real. Obviously. These things only happen in The Wizard of Oz. But it looks alive. It wears a collar, and has silky brown fur laced with gold, and golden feathered wings. Tentatively, you step closer. The monkey crawls toward you, not at all afraid. Then you spy something tied to its collar. It's a note, penned on amazingly thin paper. It reads:
Dear CBer,
I cordially invite you to visit my city in the heart of the jungle. It is called The Golden Heart, and we would be honored to have you as our guests.
Should you choose to accept, you will be free to roam the City as much as you like, and I promise you Adventure, Relaxation, and Chocolate. In addition, you will be rooming in my palace; the fabled Halcyon. My monkeys will tend to your every need, and you are promised an amazing vacation.
If you would like to come, please have your bags packed and this form filled out. I will provide transport. We will come for you on October 20th, or when 15 CBers join. I look forward to seeing you!

Day 1, Part 1
Nyx was sitting on her front porch, drumming her fingers on the cover of one of her many books. It was a nice day, with a slight breeze; and would've been perfect for reading, but she couldn't concentrate. How could anyone concentrate when they were about to be transported in some mysterious way to a remote jungle palace? She wondered for the millionth time how she would get there. . .
She looked down at the cover of her book, Tales of Ghosts and the Supernatural. Fitting for what would soon be Halloween. Then something fell from the sky and bounced off the cover. Nyx jumped. Aliens! Then she shook her head. Not aliens. Why would it have been aliens? She picked the thing up off the ground. It was a scroll, bound with a gold wax seal bearing the picture of a winged monkey. She opened it. Inside were three words: Read Knock Open.
Nyx frowned. "Read, speak, open. . ."
As soon as she said the words, a door appeared. It was wooden and bright blue with a silver handle. Nyx gaped. Doors did not just APPEAR. She walked all around it, and found nothing on the other side. Seeing no better thing to do with a weird magic door, she turned the handle.
A blast of heat and humidity hit her in the face. Through the door was the jungle, in all it's magnificence. Brightly colored birds flitted everywhere, and brilliant jungle flowers and wildlife flourished everywhere. And in the middle of it all sat a city, made entirely of gold. It's houses were all sizes, and there was a giant pyramid over it all, bearing a resemblance to some sort of mayan temple. The sun flashed over it all, and Nyx shielded her eyes as she stepped through the door. She saw multiple other CBers coming out of their own doors and gazing around in awe. Some she recognized, some she didn't, but they all shared the same stunned look.
"It's so. . .Bright!" Fidelity breathed.
"Is it seriously all gold?" Heroes wondered.
"No, I'm afraid," a voice answered.
The CBers turned to see a figure approaching them from the direction of the city gates. She wore a dress of multi-colored feathers, and a golden feathered circlet on her head. Her eyes were amber, and her hair black, and she wore a smile that made you want to smile yourself.
"It's not all gold," she continued. "Just the palace. The rest is painted. My name is Aurum, and welcome to the heart."
As the CBers followed Aurum to the city, talking and laughing, one of them hung behind. And by the end of the trip, they thought, they'd be the only one.

Is it too late for me to join? I understand if it is, (6 min 36 sec ago by Aurum of the Heart) and I won't expect you to work me in after the start of the ski lodge, but if there are spots open:

Appearance: I am sort of tall for my age. I am pretty skinny, with long legs and feet that are really too big for my liking. I have hair that is finally reaches definitely past my shoulders and is sometimes-sort of-not-really-curly. And blueish-grayish-greenish-who knows what elseish eyes. I will be wearing a forest green tunic with black leggings and brown, ankle-high boots.
Personality: Shy, and introverted, but I can be less so around my friends. I love reading, writing, acting, and my flute. Also, I am pretty creative and I stand up for what I think is right. I am pretty opinionated. I am an INFP-T, according to my last Meyers-Briggs test a mew months ago.
Luggage: A copy of The Book Thief, and one of The Hobbit, and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, and book about phoenixes for research. And a purple e-reader with a complete collection of Agatha Christie's novels and short stories. Likewise, for research. Assorted clothes and toiletries, my flute and sheet music, most importantly a book of Les Mis songs. Dream/poetry/random thoughts notebook. NaNo notes notebook. Extra notebook just in case. Purple fountain pen. Retractable pencil w/ extra graphite. A very old Macbook. A flashlight. A raincoat and boots, because why not? And a very large suitcase because I am, obviously, an over packer.
Hobby: Reading and writing.
Greatest Fear: Falling from a high place. Great death idea, Aurum.
What you would do in the case of the Apocalypse: Grab some books, cheese, bread, carrots, and vegan ice cream, and join Fidelity in Costco. Or Quill in her bunker or AA in her safe room or Nyx in her library or aqua in her space under the stairs or my sister under her bed.
Powers: Talking to owls and/or controlling the wind, feel free to change that as much as you want to I'm not OP.
