Day One Part One
Gecko was super ecxited to go to the school. That night, she had had a hard time sleeping. In fact, she had just drifted off when she heard a sound that made her start. She glanced at the didgital clock. 12:30 am. She heard the hissing again, a sort of wisper coming from outside. Quickly, she shoved on some jeans and a shirt, grabbed her bag and made her way outside.
Gecko shivered in the chilly night. Or morning, rather. She looked around and saw a short, plump figure under her window. She walked toward the figure, thinking that they were there to pick her up. The woman turned around and saw her. "Are you Gecko?" she asked. Gecko nodded. "I am Miss Cartwright, the math teacher at the Einstien School. Are you ready to go?" Again, Gecko nodded her approval.
The teacher lead her to a chariot parked by the side of the road. If Gecko hadn't been so sleepy, she would have asked why they used a chariot, but it was all she could do to keep her eyes open. After what seemed like ages, the dawn started to break and they arrived at a tall stone buiding that nearly looked like a castle. Miss Cartwright handed the reins to a young man and took Gecko up the stone steps and through the massive doors. Finally, they were inside. Gecko was amazed by the high cathedral ceiling of the hall they were in, the intracate designs carved onto it. A fire roared in a huge fire place. And around they fire in arm chairs sat 11 sleepy eyed kids. Cartwright motioned for Gecko to join them, then left the room.
The others introduced them selves to Gecko. "Oh, and that's Sky," PygmyOwl told her, gesturing toward the sleeping girl. They talked for a while, when a tall man came in. "That's Mr. Nelson, the science teacher," PygmyOwl wispered as the teacher called for attention. Quickly, Sparkle Moon woke up Sky. "Welcome," he started, "to the Einstein School for the Very Ecxeptional. You are all here because you are indeed ecxeptional. But there are many rules here. If you break them, you will be expelled." He droned on and on about guidelines. Most rules were standard, like the time you had to turn out the light, no sneaking out after dark, and so on. But one was very peculiar. "You must never, under any curcumstances, go inside the north tower."
After the rules were made clear, another woman appeared. "Mrs. Shultz, foriegn languages teacher," Indigo Feather informed the others. She lead the students up a marble stair case, down hallways that seemed made entirely of doors, then up a second, obsidian stair, then to another hall with less doors. There were six open bedrooms.
The first room had book shelves filled with every single Rick Riorden book, and the wallpaper had purple feathers on it. "This room belongs to Indigo Feather and Sky. Please find your uniforms on the beds." The next room had a few owls flying about the room, or in and out the open window, music books on the shelves, and the beds were covered with rainbow themed sheets and blankets. Pygmy and Rainbows moved in right away. The next, with books, lining the walls, belonged to Luminescence and Arithmancy. Gecko and Sparkle Moon got a sparkly gecko room with a telescope. And the last room, with plenty of pictures of birds, went to Hummingbird and Barnswallow.
As Gecko finally thought she might get to sleep, the sun rose up in full and she groaned. This would be a tiring day.
