It is a dark and stormy night. You sit by your window, watching the raindrops roll down the smooth, dark glass. A flash of lightning illuminates the old-fashioned analog clock that rests on the table beside you- 12:00 am, on the dot.
A clap of thunder splits the sky, seeming to shake your entire house. You squint into the night, trying to make out something- anything- in the total, all-consuming blackness.
Then, you look back at the windowsill, to find something pressed against the outside of the glass that hadn't been there a split second before.
It seems to be a roll of paper.
Curiosity getting the better of you, you open the window, wincing at the cold and at the sheets of rain cutting into your bare arm like a knife. You carefully pull the scroll from where it is flapping in the breeze. The paper is mysteriously dry.
Another flash of lightning illuminates the room. The scroll in your hand seems to be made of thick, old parchment, tied with a velvety red ribbon. You untie the knot in the ribbon and unroll the paper. It bears this message.
Greetings,
You have been selected to audition for the 292nd season of the highly exclusive Citadel Theatre. This season's musical will be Les Misérables. Auditions will be held on Wednesday, the 20th May, on the theatre's premises. If you wish to accept our invitation, RSVP as soon as possible. We shall arrange for your transportation to the audition.
With deepest regards,
The Director
You roll up the paper, utterly perplexed. The Citadel Theatre is legendary.
Of course you will be attending.

Hello everybody! As you have probably already guessed, this is a ski lodge. (If you are a newer CBer who doesn't know what a ski lodge is, it's a solo write that takes place in a special location and uses CBers and AEs as the characters. But there's a twist- every day, someone is killed, like a murder mystery, and it's up to the rest of the characters to solve it.) I'm super excited to be writing this!
Before you fill out your character sheets, here are a few quick rules.
1. This is not an RP. This is a solo write, in which I will be doing all of the writing myself. You are more than welcome to give constructive criticism or comment on my writing, but please do not advance the plot.
2. You may bring up to three (3) AEs, but ONLY if you fill out a character sheet for each of them.
3. If you do not fill out a character sheet, you will not be a part of the story.
4. No CAPTCHAs are permitted.
5. Character sheets are due before Wednesday, May 20th!
5. I will try to write as often as I can- please be patient :)
6. If you want to, you can try to guess my identity!
Here is the character sheet:

Sounds like fun! I love me some good mystery.
Name/Nickname: Majestic Mary, or just Mary for short.
Gender/Pronouns: she/her/hers
CBer or AE?: CBer
Appearance: I have blonde hair a little past my shoulders, blue eyes, and I'm about 5'2". I also have braces, which are currently purple. I'm usually wearing a t-shirt and shorts, but if I'm acting in Les Mis, then of course I will be wearing some sort of costume.
Personality: I am usually happy, smiling, and extroverted. I really enjoy making friends, and I can be a little over talkative at times. -.-
Prior theatre experience: (this DOES NOT have to be your actual, real-life theatre experience. You can make it up or just use dream roles if you want. Or you are welcome to put "none") Unfortunately, I can not sing to save my life, even though I love to. However, I have been in past productions including The Little Mermaid (as Chef Louis, cuz his part is sung in a wacky French accent), Beauty and the Beast (as Narrator 1, which was mainly a speaking role), and this year I was going to be in Aladdin (as Cave of Wonders/Spooky Voice), but it got cancelled because of Covid. I've also been in the chorus of all of these shows.
1st choice role: (In Les Mis. If you do not know the show, you may leave this blank.) Gavroche
2nd choice role: (In Les Mis. If you do not know the show, you may leave this blank.) Madame Thenardiay
What you are bringing: (luggage) A small duffel bag with however many pairs of t-shirts and shorts I decide I need, two notebooks (one for daily entries and one for writing my novel), a book, a Hershey bar, basic toiletries, and a pencil case.
Shipping?: (yes or no) Nah.
Other: Blueberry!!
Ok, I suppose I'll bring my AE, Diana.
Oh, lovely! I adore theater!
Name/Nickname: Diana
Gender/Pronouns: she/her/hers
CBer or AE?: AE
Appearance: I have dirty blonde hair, curly (not frizzy curls, gentle curls like the one you get from a curling wand) and I have blue eyes. You'll usually find me wearing something formal, like a fancy shirt and pants or skirt, and occasionally a dress.
Personality: Well, I like to consider myself a kind person. I love the earth, so I try to reduce and recycle as much as possible. I'm the volunteering kind. I like to think that I'm helpful and patient, but I don't want to brag
Prior theatre experience: (this DOES NOT have to be your actual, real-life theatre experience. You can make it up or just use dream roles if you want. Or you are welcome to put "none") Well, I love singing and dancing, and I'm a season ticket holder at a nearby theater. However, I haven't been in any real theater productions in a long time, but I was once Gretl Von Trapp in The Sound of Music a long time ago.
1st choice role: (In Les Mis. If you do not know the show, you may leave this blank.) I would love to play Cosette
2nd choice role: (In Les Mis. If you do not know the show, you may leave this blank.) Fantine
What you are bringing: (luggage) a few outfits, basic toiletries, a hairbrush, a silicon straw, a good book to read while sitting in the wings, and a notebook and fountain pen to keep account of my adventures.
Shipping?: (yes or no) No.
Other: Blueberry, I suppose.
(May 14, 2020 - 10:39 am)
Wow! This is a great idea. Seeing as how I'm probably never going to get to be in Les Mis in real life, this seems like the next best bet.
Name/Nickname: PygmyOwl
Gender/Pronouns: Female, she/her
CBer or AE?: CBer
Appearance: I'm sort of tall, and pretty skinny. I have brown, sometimes kinda curly hair that falls a little past my shoulders. I have blue/grey/green eyes and I wear glasses that are lavender on the top half and blue on the bottom. I am wearing a blueberry colored dress and black leggings and black flats.
Personality: Very shy and intorverted, although I can be less so around my closest friends. Also, I am pretty creative and I stand up for what I think is right. I am pretty opinionated. I am an INFP-T.
Prior theatre experience: I've been in quite a few community theater plays, but nothing like this! Wow, CITADEL THEATER AND LES MISÉRABLES! It's like a dream come true!
1st choice role: Okay, I know this is overdone, but my favorite characters are Fantine and Éponine, in no particular order. They are tied in first place for my dream role.
What you are bringing: A suitcase with some clothes, a copy of Les Misérables (the book) and a few dvds of past productions. And a bunch of other books. Probably some Agatha Christie, Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children, Children of Blood and Bone, and Anne of Green Gables. And some toothpaste and stuff. And some vegan foods just in case there isn't anything good.
Shipping?: (yes or no) No, I'm good.
Other: I'm vegetarian, but every other week I stop eating factory farmed animal products.
My turn! By the way, Director, this is a very good choice for a ski lodge, seeing as everyone dies on Les Mis anyway.
Name: Abcde
Gender/Pronouns: Female, she/her
CBer or AE: Alter Ego, thank you very much. I despise nicknames.
Appearance: I am very small and petite, with dark skin and amber eyes. I have dark red, wavy hair that reaches halfway down my back. I wear dark teal glasses. I will be wearing my favorite red tunic dress and black leggings and some brown, faux leather sandals.
Personality: Pretty much perfect, in my opinion. I am an ambivert, and ambidextrous, and ambitious, and lots of other things that start with ambi-. And I'm loyal, and smart, and I love music and sound and playing around with the technology of sound. But, since if I don't say this, PygmyOwl with be really embarrasing and start screaming all my flaws, I am stubborn, and slightly vain.
And you have bad taste in musicals.
Oh my goodness! Can you get over this? I'm literally going to BE IN Les Mis, you're welcome.
Fine. Sorry.
You are forgiven. Back to the sheet.
Prior theater experience: I've been in tech crew in a bunch of community theater.
1st Choice Role: Tech Crew
2nd Choice Role: I dunno. . . whatever's left over. I don't really care.
What are you bringing? My laptop. And my notebook where I take notes on the sound and lighting of every theatrical production I have ever seen/been in. And some clothes and toiletries. And my copy of Theatre Sound by John A. Leonard. And some vegan food, which I will NOT share.
Shipping: Sure! Mostly boys around my age, please, unless it's, like, an 100% perfect match.
Other: I abstain from factory farmed animal products. ALL the time. Not just every other week. But I eat locally and ethically farmed eggs, dairy, and honey.
(May 14, 2020 - 10:43 am)
(May 14, 2020 - 11:13 am)
The nickname part is optional, right? Because I can't think of a decent nickname for PygmyOwl. I really don't want to be called Pyg.
(May 14, 2020 - 12:50 pm)
Wait. . . the nickname thing wasn't necessary, right? Because I really don't want to be called Pyg. And I guess I'll change my mind about shipping, just in case. Still probably not, but MAYBE boys. If it's perfect and stuff.
(May 14, 2020 - 12:54 pm)
You don't need a nickname. That part is optional, don't worry.
(May 14, 2020 - 2:08 pm)

Name/Nickname: Agent Winter (Win)

Personality: I’m energetic, silly, and weird with friends, though I can also be a bit of an introvert. I have a temper and I can get really mad if someone’s hurting my friends. I'm very nerdy, and I like first-person shooter games and roleplaying games.
Prior theatre experience: (this DOES NOT have to be your actual, real-life theatre experience. You can make it up or just use dream roles if you want. Or you are welcome to put "none") I've been in dance ensembles and played minor roles in plays irl, though I've also played a couple more major roles. I love being in plays, and when Covid-19 has passed I'm joining a theater club in my hometown!

A ukulele (strapped to the back of the backpack), a skateboard, my current sketchbook and a pencil case (holding pencils, fineliner pens, a brush pen, and a kneaded eraser), my Ohuhu markers, my laptop, and my phone and Bluetooth headphones.
Shipping?: (yes or no) Wait, that's a thing? Uh, yeah, sure!
Other: I can control snow and ice, though I'm not sure if powers are allowed in this ski lodge...
And my Æ:
Name/Nickname: Reese!
Gender/Pronouns: Female, she/her
CBer or AE?: Æ and PROUD OF IT!
Appearance: I have EPIC spiky black hair and yellow eyes, and I usually wear a black crop top with a teal spray paint moon on it and ripped black jeans. Oh, and I also wear a silver hoop earring that controls my super-cool shapeshifting power. I can shapeshift into a GLORIOUS black cat with yellow eyes.
Personality: I'm exuberant, energetic, and totally awesome! I've been known to be a bit impulsive, but I don't see why that's a bad thing! I love graffiti art and skateboarding, and I'm an extrovert!
(Agent Winter's note: She's also very insecure and a little anxious, but she'll never show that side of her personality to anyone if she can help it.)
Prior theatre experience: (this DOES NOT have to be your actual, real-life theatre experience. You can make it up or just use dream roles if you want. Or you are welcome to put "none") I haven't really been in plays before, but it sounds PRETTY FREAKIN' EPIC!
1st choice role: (In Les Mis. If you do not know the show, you may leave this blank.) Hmmm... Gavroche?
2nd choice role: (In Les Mis. If you do not know the show, you may leave this blank.) I mean my first choice was kinda random so I dunno.

Shipping?: (yes or no) Uh... sure, I suppose. Boys only, though, if that's okay.

She can be really really depressed and/or stressed sometimes but only shows it by being quieter than usual. Thoughtful/considerate in an annoyed way - the "mom" of the group. Daydreamy and ambitious. Doesn't like people as a rule, but she isn't aloof (like Patrick).
Prior theatre experience: none. she's kinda dreading it but wants to be good at it.
