NaPoWriMo
In four days, it will be the beginning of April--April first, to be exact, more widely known as April Fool's Day. But it's also the start of NaPoWriMo--National Poetry Writing Month!
Two years ago, I didn't know about NaPoWriMo, and last year, it slipped my mind. But this year, I'm really into writing poetry, and I would actually like to do NaPoWriMo. And so I thought I’d mention it in case other people were planning to do it or just hadn't heard about it--NaPoWriMo is where you try to write one poem each day (or more, if you're super motivated), for every day of April.
There isn't a website for it like there is for NaNoWriMo, but I believe there's a sort of blog/website where prompts are posted daily. (And you're supposed to put your poetry on your blog, but do you have a blog? I don't.) However, I don't have much access to the website and I won't be able to go on it to find prompts every single day, so I thought maybe if there are people who want to do this we could compile some prompts together for us to do—just any random prompts or poem themes or whatever to use, because thirty poems is kind of a lot to just be doing impromptu.
So, if anyone else is doing NaPoWriMo, if you’d like to post your poetry here you can do that, and there’s also the Poetry Thread.

Top! (I'm going to be trying to come up w/ prompts later)
(March 29, 2019 - 12:08 pm)
Sounds like fun! I didn't know about it, so thanks for sharing! I'm down to do this.

Oooh! I had heard about NaPoWriMo before but I didn’t know it was in April. I’d love to start writing more poetry, and NaPoWriMo sounds really cool and I think I’d like to try it, but I’m doing Camp NaNo in April already so I probably won’t be able to fit in a poem a day along with that...*sigh* *grumbles under breath about not having enough time to do things like this* Well, I’ll still probably check out the site and the prompts, and maybe I’ll even be able to write some poetry even if I’m not ‘officially’ participating? We’ll see. Either way, I can’t wait to read everyone else’s poems!

If anyone wants prompts, I've got some. I came up with a lot of them, but the first six are courtesy of Abigail and a poetry prompt book that she has (thanks, Abi!).
1) Choose a color and write a poem using only images of that color.
2) Write a poem in which every line begins with the words "I remember".
3) Write a poem that has only two lines. End the poem with an image of something being lost.
4) Make three separate lists of verbs, nouns, and adjectives related to cooking and write a love poem using at least 5 words from each list.
5) Write a poem of exactly 100 words.
6) Begin a poem "Dear Time" and use one or more of the following words (extra credit if you use them all): skin, geography, regret, tugboat, pudding, fibrous, pumice.
7) Write a poem about the sky.
8) Single-thing prompts: Eyelashes
9) Love letters
10) Dirt
11) Blueberries
12) Hands
13) Fire
14) The moon
15) Take a picture of a scene from some event in your life, or think of a memory you have, and write a poem about it.
16) What do you feel like right now, emotionally? Write a poem and try to just s a t u r a t e it with that feeling.
17) Put your music on shuffle and start your poem with the first phrase you hear.

Oh, hi, Joan! *Tackle hugs* You're welcome!

Ooh, I'll try! I think there are some good prompts on the Poetry Contest thread, if anyone feels like digging those up. And another thing that I did recently that was really inspiring was to find a photo and write a poem off of that. (I'm planning to post the poem I wrote on the poetry thread, if I get around to typing it up.)

I am busy today, so three haikus shall do
Writing a report
The pressure is killing me
No peace till I'm done
Thinking of all I
Could be writing instead of
This monotony
Longing for summer
Creativity and fun
I'm inspired sick
(April 2, 2019 - 1:22 pm)
"I'm inspired sick" is such a neat phrase!

Yeah, it just sort of popped into my head.
Hi Marigold! I haven’t seen you around lately. How’s life?

I totally forgot to write a poem yesterday, but I'll write one today anyway based on one of the prompts someone gave (sorry, forgot who). It probably won't get any editing, so be warned!
Begin a poem "Dear Time" and use one or more of the following words (extra credit if you use them all): skin, geography, regret, tugboat, pudding, fibrous, pumice.
Dear Time,
I hope you regret the pain you have
Inflicted
The skin you have
Ruined
The fibrous cloaks you have
Frayed
I hope you regret the tugboats of life you have
Beached
Unable to rejoin the flowing waters
Of society
Unable to live
Trapped
Like pudding in a bowl
Victims
Of your evil plans
I hope the geography crafted lovingly
Under your fingers
Comes back
To bite you
I hope the pumice of the volcanoes
You have made
Traps you
In its bubbles
I hope you suffer,
Time,
For the suffering
You have inflicted
I hope you regret what you have done.
