Ski Lodge

Chatterbox: Pudding's Place

Ski Lodge

Ski Lodge?

As Myst read the letter, she had far to many questions going through her head... on top of it all was why. Why would someone ask her to host a new ski lodge? Who would do that? How did they find me? What are they trying to find out? She stared hard at the crinkled, but otherwise neat letter, tainted by the slightly scrawled ink, across the parchment-like paper. Biting her lip, she got up, peering out at the quiet gloom through a rain streaked window pane. Hmm. It wouldn't hurt to try, right? She laid the letter down on her rough mahogany desk, listening to the patter of the feeble drizzle. Like too many people rushing around, she thought, rather absent-mindedly. It seems a bit sudden, but I suppose I could use the adventure...Or rather the opportunity... Once again glancing around the cramped apartment she had rented under an alias, and applied for with a disguise, she returned to pondering.

Then, turning, she swiftly began the preparations.

Myst had everything planned, set and ready to go. All she needed was receive the guests. Again she looked out the weathered pane of glass, the only thing separating her from the harsh nature. This time, though, the window was much larger, and reflected the dusk's faint light off the powdered precipitation, which had grown several inches within these painstakingly and meticulously planned past few weeks. Now, when she  the surrounding room, even in the dim lighting, she saw the gleam of the palace's ballroom's polished floor, both the brilliant and creamy contrasting wallpapers, the ornately designed decorations and countless gadgets and trinkets. If she wandered far enough, she'd even glimpse the personalised guest rooms, perfectly attuned to the future visitors every want and need.

A brief smile played over her dainty lips, for the first time in months, upon simply noticing how ironic her full name was at this particular moment. The time had come...

Perfect. She thought as she gazed out into the blindingly-bright snow, now whipping across her window's field of view. She knew that this was probably the last time she would look out this window again, at least for a while. She had lit all of the chandeliers, by this time, and set up cameras answer sound recorders, so that she could monitor the event. Is that... Yep, it's the first guest. She determined, judging from the wavy red hair flowing from behind the first character.  Not far behind her another figure, this time barely visible, and hovering on a giant pad of stickynotes came into view. A little farther in the distance she saw the next huddled figure inching towards the pronounced establishment, and to her surprise, munching on taco casserole! For the next hour or so, more CBers arrived in a steady stream. As the doors automatically closed behind the last one, she clicked her tongue. Thirteen...13? I'm not sure if this is getting off to a very good head start. She thought, absent-mindedly tapping her fingers on the clipboard holding the various registeration forms, while hurrying up the carpet-clad grand staircase, somehow rather shadowy, despite several large and very fancy chandeliers dangling gracefully above the lobby. Once again, she clicked her tongue. She was supposed to have been in the monitoring room already, but, she hadn't planned to watch all of the guests arrive, either. After racing up the stairs, she finally made it to the room she was looking for. As she slipped inside, she could hear the relatively quite din of the small crowd of CBers through the speakers, while silently debating whether or not she should use voice-alterer or not. The interior of the room would have been pitch-black if it had not been for the multitude of screens, reporting every last corner of the building, and reflecting  their blueish-light off the assortment of gadets and such she had gathered at her disposal. She reluctantly strapped the voice-changer on and began her welcoming "speach."

"Hello there, admins!" Her voice boomed over the mostly extatic group, then waited for the voices to die down. "I would like to thank you for coming here, and wish you an enjoyable stay. That being said," She added, "You must be aware of the inevitable risks of staying here. You may experience symptoms such as trauma, injury or death. Such forms include..." After babbling on for a while, and losing everyone's attention, Myst continued. "As you are now all aware of the pontential dangers, is there anyone who would like to leave thus far?"She paused, waiting in anticipation."Well then, rooms shall be assigned likewise, and can generate items as nessesarily. For the rooms, the even numbers are on the right, coming from the main staircase, and odds on the left, as for the individual rooms, Jwyn, 5A; Viola, 13A; Kitten, 6A; MJ, 8A; Jaybells, 4A; Nighthawk, 9A; Soren (Infinity), 10A; Codesmith, 2A; Darkking, 3A; Author 7, 1A; Leo, 7A; Rogue (Wilding), 10A; Twirlgirl, 12A; alright? If you need to pick up a hard copy, their is one on the front desk, in front of the main staircase, along with a general blueprint of the house and the scheduled meal times. Enjoy!"

With that, Myst flipped off the speakers, and tugged the voice-alterer loose. Sighing and flopping down in her black spinny office-chair, she began, or perhaps finished, the first day.

Back with the CBers, an exhilerated silence drifted over the huge lobby, before shattering, revealing a cacophony, as excited admins began to explore and discuss the situation, completely oblivious of what was to come.

@Kitten, perhaps it wasn't quite the right word? I just feel that saying CBers too much gets repetitive, so maybe I should refer to you as participants as an alternative instead?

~Day 2

~~~~~
The next morning, Myst scanned through all the security files at ×50. She knew it wasn't the most accurate of methods, but it was supposed to save time. It probably was much more time consuming, considering the figures she kept on spotting, then realizing that they were participants, of course, just exploring. She finished within a few minutes, after she turned the speed up to ×75. Clicking her tongue, she noticed that she had for got about the AEs and "other companions." Besides, it was almost breakfast... Myst begrudgingly got out the voice changer and speaker.
With the Chatter-Boxers, most were sleeping in their assigned rooms, exhausted from the day before. They were all awoken, or otherwise startled by, the blaring of the unseen speaker.
"Dear guests, just a reminder, you are advised to get ready for breakfast, with plenty of time to spare. As a side-note, your AEs and other companions should be arriving shortly. They were to be checked thoroughly before being allowed to travel here. You may also decide whether you prefer to be served meals in your room, or in the dining hall. Apologies for any further inconvenience." And with an electric-sounding click, the voice ceased.
At last, as each of the CBers stretched and got up from their very comfortable beds, one by one the two slips on their bedside tables caught their eyes. The first briefed them that they would be sharing a room with their AEs and such. It also informed them that if anything happened to them, (giving several CBers a chill down their spines,) their AEs and other companions would be sent back to the location filled out on the form.
Author 7, along with Codesmith and MJ just frowned slightly after reading the first sheet, and were rather surprised as they turned their eyes to the second to discover the highly personalised information. As the others finished pondering the complications involved with sharing a room with their AEs and such, they were quite shocked, when they got the chance to read the second sheet, as well.
With Viola?~~ She gasped as she finished reading the letter, and looked up to see little porcelain, stuffed animal, and even Sticky Note cats, adorning the bookshelves on the adjacent wall. The bookshelf seemed to run farther than she could see, but she decided to get ready for the day before she checked that out.
Across the hall, Twirlgirl's eyes widened as she gazed at the full-sized stage that had seemingly magically carved itself into her room's spread. Across from the stage, a pair of glass-encased, brand new point shoes shone from their pedestal, a spotlight highlighting their existence.
On the first side, and next door to Viola?, Soren grinned up at the large bookshelf full of Marvel comics, Harry Potter and Unwanteds books and even some minecraft guides, on the wall opposite of her bed. It didn't hurt that their was a huge supply of mozzarella sticks in her mini fridge, along with a microwave, either. She glanced over at the stash of chewing gum she had also discovered inside of the drawer of her nightstand. At that moment Levana, Sage and Dewy, burst in, as well as Boo, who was mumbling another CAPTCHA.
Oh, just Fabulous. Thought Rogue, as Cap peered into room 10A, the AES are back. Otherwise, Rogue quite enjoyed the room, filled with gadgets and gear for hiking and hunting. In fact, she was fairly certain that the room, after a certain point just faded into trees, but she hadn't yet had a chance to explore that far.
In the dining hall, a little over half of the CBers showed up, and even fewer AEs were to be seen. As they began to eat, to the amazement of most of the participants, their favorite foods just appeared, whenever they looked up. Thoroughly enjoying themselves, the Chatter-Boxers once again made quite the ruckus. One of the companions, Conan, tugged Jaybells' sleeve, and when she leaned down to hear what he was saying, he probably had the most idea of what was about to happen.
"Do you think anyone has died, yet?" He inquired. After a pause, in which she finished munching on a macaroon,  Jaybells responded, looking rather grim.
"Well, I suppose it is fairly likely. After all, this is a ski lodge."
To the utter astonishment of the majority of the group, by the end of the day one of the guests would be dead.
