Anyone else play Deltarune? Wait, no, let me rephrase that. Anyone else get absorbed into the mess of angst and cuteness that is Deltarune? Anyone else run out of pages in their new sketchbook because of all the Deltarune fanart? Anyone illustrating the rawest quotes in fancy calligraphy? Anyone theorizing to the level of trying to write the entire rest of the game? Just me? Well. Let’s talk anyways.

OKAY, LET’S TALK ABOUT THE ENDING.

WHAT HAPPENED.

OF COURSE TOBY FOX DIDN’T MAKE A NORMAL GAME.

OF COURSE WE HAD TO TAKE OVER KRIS. OF COURSE THEY COULDN’T JUST BE A NORMAL PLAYER CHARACTER. OF COURSE THEY HAD TO RIP US OUT OF THEIR CHEST, MAKING ME FEEL REALLY BAD FOR PLAYING.

(I really liked the ending. Can you tell?) 

Anyone else have theories? Who’s everyone’s favorite character? (Mine’s Kris, or maybe Susie. I also feel I’ll really like Asriel if he ever shows up.)

back to the Pudding's Place

Ah I love Deltarune! Played it a couple days after release and finished it in a couple hours, then the next weekend I went back and tried to beat Jevil. That was quite an afternoon.

My favorite character is Ralsei. (Hat on, of course.) I'll try to stay spoiler-free-ish, but yeah the ending was definitely interesting. It brought the whole happy hometown friendship vibes crashing down REAL quick, but of course Toby can't let us have an entirely happy ending, ever. It's always gotta be bittersweet and it's always gotta make me cry.

Hopefully the full game gets finished eventually, but the timeframes I've heard for the game's completion range from late 2019 to over seven years. If I have to wait that long for more wholesome goatboy / mean lizardgirl content I'm gonna be sad...

Honestly that wasn’t bittersweet it was SCARY (but I get what you mean).

There’s a ton of content online, and I’ve been using that to tide me over. I was going to replay it, but I felt too guilty lol. And oh my Claaws, I have so many theories. I’m considering writing Chapter 2.

Yeah, Toby Fox said it took seven years just to make the demo (chapter one) and we’re looking at possibly six more chapters, so...

Don’t forget baby spade and moss eater! More content for them too

OH MY GOSH I WANT TO PLAY IT SO BADLYYYY

I played Undertale, so now that there's a sequel I'm totally in. Waiting until Toby releases the other Chapters though. Can't stand a cliffhanger, and I'm willing to wait for who=knows-how-long until he releases it as a finished product. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE 

Unfortunately I already knew that Kris rips the player out of their chest... I looked Deltarune up to see if it was worth getting and IT WAS SPOILED AND I WAS SO UPSET I WAS LIKE WHY MUST YOU DO THIS ALL I WANTED WAS THE BASIC PLOT SETTING.

But hey, if you know it’s on a cliffhanger and what that cliffhanger is, why not play it? It’s going to be around ten years or something before the rest of the chapters, anyway.

You got me there. Does anybody know where I can get a physical copy? My brother and I have this thing about downloads. We don't like them because they take up a ton of space on your SD card, plus, there's something satisfying about being able to sit back and admire your collection of game chips. At least to us.

Admiring your collection of game chips is a mood, but I don’t think you can get a chip right now (it is a free demo, after all.) I played on my old desktop computer, so I wouldn’t know.

I don't know about the meme remixes part but I definitely beat Jevil into a pulp. And by that I mean I pacified him until he fell asleep because I found that easier and also dreaded killing anyone or anything after what happened in Undertale.

I wouldn't say that fight was as hard as Sans' but it was pretty dang tough. Had to text the only friend I know of who has also played Deltarune for suggestions, which included "don't forget Ralsei has healing magic, you dummy," and "don't play in fullscreen because it makes the game slightly faster and attacks are harder to dodge." Spent about three hours fighting him which was, in retrospect, way too long. But he was fun to beat nonetheless!
