Fiddler on the

Fiddler on the Roof!

I went to see The Fiddler on the Roof live yesterday and it was AWESOME. Probably the best musical I've ever seen.

Although to be fair, I have never seen Hamilton or Wicked or The Greatest Showman.

Anyway, who else has seen it? Thoughts?

I've seen it a few times, and it's one of my very favorite musicals of all time! It's such a good story with a real historical background, and there are so many good songs, spoken lines, and great dancing. I love the way Tevye talks to God. The show is both funny and very sad. (The other two are Carousel and Show Boat.)

Oh my Gosh! Fiddler on the Roof is one of my favorite musicals of all time! Congratulations on getting to see it live, I have only been able to see the movie. Playing Chava is my ultimate goal in life, and I honestly have no idea why I love her so much. Many people are focused on the new musicals now, like Hamilton, Wicked, and TGS like you said, but Fiddler on the roof is so classic. I could fangirl about this musical forever, so I’ll just say, “<3!”

I saw Fiddler on the Roof a long time ago because one of my classmates was in the production. I don't remember much, as I couldn't have been much over seven, but I remember a lot of the songs. I also remember my mother telling me how my great great great great grandmother travelled from Lithuania on a boat, much like the characters in the show. She told me how, although she could only take one or two trunks of necessities, she brough two big brass shabbas candlesticks, each of which weighs almost three pounds! It blew my mind that she carried those two heavy candlesticks all the way to America just so that she could continue to practice her religion in peace. They have been passed down through my family from mother to daughter since then and my mom is now the one who lights them every Friday.

Thank you for sharing this beautiful family story, Cockleburr.
