I wanted to make this thread because I've noticed a lot of talk about AEs, what AEs should be, and AE cliches ("insane" AE, and "introverted/nerdy" AEs, for example), and I want to remedy a few cliches.
This thread is where you can post advice for making an AE, ask questions about AE development, get some help if you're confused about AEs, and just generally help make AE threads a more unique place.

Uhm, I guess I'll contribute my advice:
Make them basically like any character, and not focus on the fact that they're AEs. They should be imperfect like anyone, unless they're jokingly supposed to be mary-sues.
Yes, and make them in my image!
Do exactly the opposite of what Starlight just told you. Borrow loosely from other plots and ideas, but don't rip off.
