NOTE, August 24, 2018 UPDATE: I am no longer accepting new submissions.
Picturings!
I know I've been kind of standoffish on this front, but I've got a little time now that it's summer. So, I'm taking the jump. I'm doing picturings.
AEs, Captchas, Captchaes and CBers all. If you want a picturing, fill out the following form. It will likely take a while, anywhere from hours to weeks, and I'm going to stop accepting submissions if I get too busy, which will most likely mean in fall. If you do not fill out the form, I will not do your picturing.
Individual form~
Name:
Perceived age:
Gender:
Appearance (five or fewer sentences, please):
Personality (five or fewer aspects, please):
Greatest strength:
Greatest flaw:
Approach to a puzzle:
Hobbies:
Other:
Pencil sketch, ink sketch, finished ink, or ink and color:
Bust (head and shoulders), head-to-hips or full-body:
1, 2 or 3 views:
Background, if any:
Special (optional):
Group form~
Number in group:
Names, ages, genders, appearances, personalities and hobbies of group members, one member at a time:
Relationship between group members (one sentence per dynamic, please):
Pencil sketch, ink sketch, finished ink, or ink and color:
Head-to-hips or full-body:
Background, if any:
Special (optional):
I will provide examples if necessary. Finished ink takes longer than a sketch, and color about doubles the time. Also, the bigger the undertaking, the more I'll procrastinate on it. Appearance can include facial features, hair, clothing, build, expression, accessories, whatever you can think of. Poetic descriptions tend to be inspiring. Special is special requests; a specific pose or interaction, expression, addition (wings, absence of a feature or features, riding on a tiger, etc.), action (casting a spell, falling over), perspective, medium (black paper, watercolor), or anything you want. I'm going to have to be free to reject these, though, because I might not be able to do them, depending what they are.
Give me what you've got.

I’ve been okay! If a little lonely and bored. #QuarantineLife
Btw, i saw some of your new picturings on this thread, and I feel like your art has somehow gotten even better, though I’m not sure how that’s possible since it was incredible in the first place. Anyway, I feel like my art has also improved since the last time you were here, so I was wondering if you wanted a picturing?
(December 3, 2020 - 12:19 am)
Heck yeah!! Always. And thank you so much! I'm still seeing so many ways I could improve, lol. I don't mind, though. It's nice to think that this particular journey will never end.
Oof, yeah, I miss everyone I've ever met. I hope this ends soon.

Wow, hi!! I know I just saw you on the YWP classroom, but it's crazy to see you back on the CB! We've missed you a lot, it's really great to have you back, even for a short while. I can't say it enough, your art is absolutely beautiful!
(December 1, 2020 - 3:20 pm)
It's crazy to be back! Even if it's just on this one thread. So many memories... I bit off more than I could chew a couple times. And thank you so much! I love that you still use my picturing of you. <3

VIOLA?!!!!!!!!!
*agressivley tackle hugs*
It's been forever! do you even remember me? And your art like always is AMAZING!
(December 2, 2020 - 7:22 pm)
*hugs* Hi!! I remember... something about a wolf? And I think I may have drawn you--was yours the one last year with the city in the distance and the night sky, and you were all shadowy in the foreground with a cute purple skirt and a cape? Or was that someone else? I usually write these things down, but I can't find this one for the life of me.
(December 4, 2020 - 1:40 am)
Yea! I was the city in the distance and the shadowy figure! I don't remember a wolf but eek! Welcome back! That picture is my Lock Screen because it is literally amazing!!
(December 4, 2020 - 1:42 pm)
Oh my heck yes!! I remembered right, I do remember you! Score one for the sieve brain! I do tend to remember the people I draw. :D
*shrugs* wolves and moons.
Wait, it is? You have no idea how happy that makes me. That's so cool. After a year, too...!! Thank you so much!

Hi! I'm Lupine, I joined in June, so you won't've met me, but I have "met" you (one of my main procrastination tactics is scrolling through old picturing/art posting threads on the CB). I didn't say hi right away because you've never met me and it made more sense to let some older people say hi first. Anyway. Your art is AMAZING. I have 2 questions: 1. how do you get the colored pencil to look so SMOOTH? and 2. did you rigorously study body anatomy to get poses to look so fluid, or were you just born with the skill? Anatomy sounds boring...but I might have to to get poses to look good. :| You're probably not accepting picturings right now because I can see you have a ton to do from before, but if you are then I'll request one! Later that is. Anyway welcome back!

Hi, Lupine! And thank you.
1. Practice and/or obsession. I pay very careful attention to how I'm using my pencils; smaller strokes with sharper pencils will produce smoother textures, although it can be a bit tedious, so I don't always bother, and occasionally I skip it deliberately, to achieve a different texture. I do lean back often to see if anything is uneven. Also, going in small circles over top of the usual many lines can help blend everything together. And of course I've spent years perfecting my craft. :)
2. I don't know? Gesture drawing and stylization are much better for natural posing and fluidity than anatomy practice, actually. Good anatomy will just make it look realistic. Draw from life if you can, but don't necessarily try to make it look exactly real. Do some impressionistic work, exaggerate, warp the proportions for the sake of a cool shape, do things that don't entirely make sense. Draw some monsters, it's fun. I start almost everything with very fluid, curving lines and a sense of movement. Usually the things that turn out the best are when I take a moment to think about where everything will go and what kind of form or motion it'll have before I start. I sort of feel how it looks, if that makes sense? It's... hard to describe. I used to draw myself a lot, and I think that gave me a sense of visceral connection to whatever poses I draw.

As it turns out, this is my coloring process.
(December 9, 2020 - 12:33 pm)
Oh wow, that's a detailed explanation! Thank you, that's really informative. And that drawing is really good!
(December 9, 2020 - 9:00 pm)
You're welcome! And thank you so much.
(December 11, 2020 - 9:30 pm)
Leeli... AND Viola??! This day keeps getting exponentially better *explodes* *un-explodes and hugs Viola?* Hello!! How've you been? :)
(December 4, 2020 - 10:36 pm)
Jwyn! Oh my goodness I haven't seen you in forever. *hugs*
I'm all right. Not at my best for sure, but with any luck I'll learn from my mistakes. I'm trying to go to bed and get up earlier, which isn't going very well because I put off some schoolwork a while back and it piled up on me, and now I'm staying up late trying to work up the nerve to do it. Which is sort of funny when I say it like that, heh. What about you? Any adventures lately?
