Chatterbox: Pudding's Place
As many of
As many of you know, I'm writing a novel called Take Wing/This Dark Night (title TBD). In it, there's this band of vigilantes who do the good in the world that the government will not. They hunt down dragons that are breaking the Treaty and attacking humans, and they apprehend humans that are criminals and thieves. I need many more characters to add to this band, called the Eagles. Even if these characters are never actually mentioned in the story, I like to be able to have everything squared away and in a spreadsheet. :) So I decided to open up the character creation to you guys! You're welcome to fill out the character sheet below with either a made-up character or your CBer self. There's a limit of 2 characters per person right now, which I might lift later if the need arises. But for now, only make 2.
There are a few limitations: they have to be human. And a pretty average human, too. I don't want blue hair or super-strength. These are people that have had their homes and families destroyed, and have chosen to join the Eagles to find a new family and home. And they can't have magic. Magic does exist in this land, but only in certain humans which I already have planned out.
Also, each of your characters will be assigned a convocation, or cabin. (Think of a summer camp type group-- you share a cabin with them and do everything with them.) Within that convocation are individual jobs. There can be one archer, one navigator, one stayman, one to three defenders, and one leader. Each of these jobs need different strengths as described below. (Please choose ONE job for your character to do. It's okay if the numbers don't work out perfectly in the end-- it's unlikely that the band would have 5 or so perfect groups anyway.)
Archer- when convocations go out on hunts to find rogue dragons, they bring along their archer. Dragon hide is very thick, so the Eagles have developed a special crossbow to take down the dragon. This crossbones is very large and requires a specialized archer to operate it. Archers must have strong back/arm muscles and be calm under pressure. They must also have good aim and be able to focus through noise, action, and danger. Archers don't usually fight, as they are the rarest type to find and the convocation doesn't want to risk them getting injured. They're also focused on the dragon, not on the human attackers.
Navigator- Navigators tend to be a little odd. They're finely tuned to all aspects of the world around them, and are able to plot the best course for their convocation to remain unseen and unheard by the rogue. A downside of this fine-tuning is that they can sometimes be overwhelmed by all they see and hear. Navigators have a strong connection to the earth and wind, and love nature. They also act as emergency field medics if someone is injured on a hunt, calling on their knowledge of nature and plants to help them. Navigators don't usually fight due to their flighty nature but they will if needed.
Stayman- Staymen (plural of stayman) are those that get the innocent people that are caught in the middle out of the conflict. They get the innocents out of the way and to safety. Staymen must be calm, charismatic, compassionate, and trustworthy. Staymen don't fight unless absolutely necessary, being more focused on the safety and happiness of others. They don't have to have any particular physical characteristics. Staymen are equipped with trons, which are tansportation devices, so they can get everyone out in an emergency.
Defender- Defenders do exactly what they sound like-- they defend. The other jobs don't tend to fight, so the defender defends them. Unlike every other job, there can be more than one defender. More than one can actually be good, as defenders have a lot to do. Their main priority is the archer, as they are so rare to find, and that's where the main threat will usually come to. Rogues will see tha the archer poses the most threat and charge them. However, an archer still has their hands full with trying to aim/shoot the crossbow, so it's up to the defender to keep them safe. Defenders will also protect the stayman if the innocents get violent or there's more than one rogue. They need to be strong, usually pretty big too, and skilled with most kinds of weaponry.
Leader- The leader is another straightforward job. They lead the convocation and make decisions. If there's only 1 defender in a convocation, the leader will help defend if needed. Leaders need to be cool-headed and able to make split-second decisions. Like the staymen, leaders have trons for emergency transport if needed.

Thanks to everyone who has submitted characters so far!! I've completed quite a few more groups and my spreadsheet is looking quite full. There's still room for more, though, if you want to contribute! I love all the age ranges I'm getting. I'm filling convocations with people of roughly the same age, so there's a convocation going of 14 year olds and one of 20 year olds, not to mention everything in between! You guys have helped me out so much. Thanks for doing this. :)

Okay, so I like making charries. But since it's for you're story, what kind of charries do you still want/need. Like, so that your charries are diverse and fit what you imagined. I'll try to make a charrie to suit that/based on those suggestions.

Hmm, well...
Other than the ones I originally posted, I don't really have any specific rules and regulations. Some younger teens would be appreciated, but not younger than the age of 13. I have I think 4 complete groups and 2 incomplete, that are just missing one person each. However, I would like to have more incomplete, because that just feels more natural to me. Basically what I'm saying here is that you can go wild. Make characters to your heart's desire! Make them perfect or imperfect, flawed or unflawed (though the flawed can be fun to incorporate). They don't have to be beautiful, shining humans. They can be scarred, both internally and externally. They can be whatever you want. :)
