Journaling!
So, I've been journaling for a while, just one or two-page entries where I recount the events of the past few days, nothing too special, but I've kind of gotten a little bored of that. Does anyone have any tips for journaling, like a new way to format entries or anything extra you might write about besides daily happenings? Or how do each of y'all journal? Do y'all just write without any sort of plan, or is there a special way you like to do it? Do either of those questions actually make any sense?
Anyway, but besides journaling advice, this is a thread to talk about journaling! Who else journals? Is there a specific way, time and place y'all like to do it? Do you prefer a regular spiral bound notebook or a $25 journal from Barnes and Noble?
(Also, apologies for my extreme southern-ness. I lost count of how many times I've said "y'all" in this post. :))

Well, kudos to you! I've never gotten very far in (daily) journaling. However, I usually bring a "poetry journal" to IFFP (InterFaith Families Project - It's where I go instead of a church or synagogue) to capture the fragments of poetry that religion usually brings. Hope that helps!

That's a really cool idea! I've never thought of journaling in the form of poetry. Thanks!

I love to journal! I try to write every day, but I haven't been doing it very much, because it takes quite a bit of time and, as you said, it gets a little boring after a while xD I have a very large collection of multi-colored gel pens, which gives me a little inspiration.
I like to write the day of the week, month, day of the month, year, time, and location at the top of each of my entries, just because ;) I usually write a breif summary of the day's happenings, talk about the weather, say whether or not I sent an e-mail or letter to one of my friends, talk about new projects that I've started, books I've read, music pieces I've begun working on, school, ect. I like to talk to my journal as if it were a person! I tried naming it once, but that got...weird after a while, to say the least. I also occasionaly glue/paste brochures of museums that I've gone to, or the wrist bands of county fairs or waterparks. I guess you could say that my journal is not just a journal alone, but part scrapbook!
I usually fill out a journal every 6-12 months, so I have a rather large collection! I started journaling when I was 9, I believe. My latest journal is teal blue, and inside it it has a spiral-bound book that you can refill once all the pages are filled.
It's also incentive for me to try to write neatly when I journal because my handwriting is incorrigible, to say the least

Kudos to all of you for trying to write every day! I would never be able to do that because I don't have enough time. I do, however, write in my journal every Sunday. I find it is easier to do when I am already doing all my "religious stuff". I think that you just have to make it a habit. I like to write every week because then I have more to say and it doesn't get as boring. So far I have filled one journal and am almost done with a second one.

I would like to start a journal, but I don't know what to write about. my past journals have been exceedingly dry accounts describing the contents of my breakfasts. what kind of things do you write about? does it get boring ever?

I usually just journal about daily happenings. I don't always write every day, especially if I've had just an average week with nothing too exciting. I usually have something semi-interesting to write about after a day at co-op (I'm homeschooled) or something like that. Sometimes my family takes little weekend trips or spends the day in the city, and I like to write about those kinds of things. I don't always write about events, though. A good thing I've discovered is to google journal prompts. Other people have come up with very creative things to write about. Hope this helps! :)

I just write whatever I feel like. Stories from everyday life? Rants and ventings? Book theories? You name it, I've probably written it. There's a drawing of a donut in there too, for some reason.
The difference between a diary and a journal is diary is a account of your life that you write in every single day. A journal, on the other hand is just writing in a book. You don't have to write in it every day, or write about what you had for breakfast. You just write.
Or, if you get really bored, you could draw a donut. XD
