I am personally a tab bit sick of all this publicity. I may not be one to judge, because I've never heard his music, but come on! He was a singer. We honor him, pay our respects, etc. Then let's move on with life, shall we? The front page of my newspaper has been taken up with Michael Jackson stuff for the past several days, and all the political strife and other stories are buried in the back. I heard that Congress gave a moment of silence to honor him. Congress! And do they do that for any other singer who dies? Or political figures? Or the thousands of soldiers that have died recently? *rant over* Sorry. That's a little, er, overboard, isn't it? I just needed to vent.

Don't worry, it's perfectly ok! Yeah, I agree people did overboard with Michael Jackson dying, but we still have his music, right?

I disagree with all this about too much publicity. I mean they have been covering his death a tad too much, but if you had lived during the time when he was EXTREMELY popular, then you would understand the sadness. He was a world icon and him dying IS a big deal. Obviously we have more important things to care about, but honestly, Micheal Jackson dying is just as important as a family member dying.

Yeah, I see what you mean. On this other site I'm on, there are like eight threads on him! It gets a little repetitive and heated and ALL CAPS over whether he was a creep or not... This thread is relatively calm, actually.

That's exactly what I think! The media is worried over one celebritys' death rather than the thousands dying in Iraq and Germany! I think they should think very hard about what they're priorities should be.

Ok, so, I get that you're a little annoyed...but he was a really great person. And not everybody can just move on. He did more than sing, you know....he payed for treatment for cancer for any kid he met that had cancer pretty much....he supported 39 charities....he started his own charity. And, if you look at his interviews and stuff, I think he should be able to be a little bit eccentric and stuff, because he pretty much had his childhood stolen, and people he trusted taking advantage of him...just listen to some of his sad/autobiographical songs...."Childhood", "Cry", "Stranger in Moscow", "Heal the World", "You Are Not Alone," and "Will You Be There..." Like I said, not everybody can just move on. I mean, if somone you loved died, would you be able to just say "good-bye, see ya!"? And I would know he was awesome. I got to go to Neverland (his old home) several years ago when I had cancer. And I know you stated we have thousands of soldiers dying, and my cousins are in Afghanistan, and one died in Iraq, so I think I am entitled to say that despite that, I think Michael Jackson deserved all this attention. He wasn't "just a singer," he was a person. I understand that you might be annoyed, but can you please just make sure you understand what others might be going through?

Maggie, while it is sad that Michael Jackson died, I think it is sadder that Farah Fawcett died. As you might not know this, Farah Fawcett died from cancer.
I also think that it would be good if the media would stop concentrating on Michael Jackson alone, and focus on more important things like the new health care bill and the war where many soldiers are dying in Iraq. Instead of reporting about the thousands that die there every day, they choose to talk about one celebrity.

So did Billy Mayes

Exactly how I feel! Yeah, it's sad. He died, but he isn't the coolest thing since sliced bread (If I may use that phrase, TNO:). He was a singer who died! He doesn't need to be plastered on every newspaper across America for a month! Like you said, there're much more important things to talk about! All of our soldiers that have died for us! They're so much more important than some singer dude (no offense!). And, yeah, he does kinda creep me out! ;)
